Inevitable Wenger links begin
Soon-to-be ex-Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a candidate to replace Sam Allardyce should he be moved on by Everton this summer.
The Independent report that Farhad Moshiri's reputed admiration for Wenger would make him a front-runner to be the next Blues boss.
Allardyce still has a year left on his contract at Goodison Park but the fact that he has fulfilled his initial brief of keeping Everton up, combined with supporter dissatisfaction with his tactics, has led to speculation that Moshiri could end his tenure prematurely.
The report claims that Wenger has no intention to retire after 22 years with Arsenal and is also linked with Monaco in his native France but speculation elsewhere has it that the Frenchman is unlikely to consider a return to full-time management.
Rather, he would consider a director of football role which might, again, interest Moshiri.
