Marcel Brands appears to have announced his intention to leave PSV Eindhoven for Everton based on comments attributed to him by the Sunday Mirror.

Brands has been linked with a sporting director role at Finch Farm for the past few weeks but admitted last week that it would be hard to leave the Dutch champions.

Based on his latest comments, however, which reference the Blues' interest going back two years, it appears as though he will be reluctantly leaving PSV to take up a role at Everton.

“Saying goodbye to the people at this club will be the hardest thing for me but it is [the right thing to do],” the 55-year-old is quotes as saying by the Mirror article.

“The first contact with Everton goes back to 2016. I have said no to some beautiful clubs in Germany and I am with the best club in the Netherlands.”
