Conceição emerges as new managerial target

Everton are said to be considering another Portuguese candidate to potentially replace Sam Allardyce this summer, with FC Porto boss Sérgio Conceiçà£o in the frame.

An exclusive report by The Times claims that the Blues are weighing up an approach for Conceiçà£o having already approached his compatriots Marco Silva and Paulo Fonseca last autumn following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.

The manner of Silva's departure from Watford when their form nosedived after the Hornets' hierarchy refused to sanction his departure for Goodison Park to replace Koeman has, perhaps, taken the gloss off his appeal to Farhad Moshiri.

Fonseca, meanwhile, is weighing up his options while the Ukrainian league season winds down to its conclusion on 19th May. He has been offered a new contract by Shakhtar Donetsk but is, according to some reports, also among the options being considered by Arsenal.

Conceiçà£o has made a name for himself in his homeland this season by delivering Porto's first league title in four years despite having to deal with enforced austerity at the Portuguese club.

How much substance there is to this claim remains to be seen, of course. This reported interest could be a mechanism designed to prompt from urgency from other preferred candidates like Fonseca.
