Everton face battle to land Lozano

Updated Everton's hopes of wrapping up a swift deal for PSV Eindhoven's Hirving Lozano now that Marcel Brands has arrived have been dealt a blow by Valencia's emergence on the scene.

The Blues have been linked with the winger ever since it became clear that Brands was set on joining the club but the La Liga side are said to be serious suitors.

The 22-year-old was one of the biggest stars in PSV's title-winning side this season and the Brands connection made it a short leap to suggest Everton were interested.

He will be in Mexico's World Cup squad this summer and his transfer value could be affected by his performances if he isn't snapped up before then.

Valencia may be credited with interest but when Lozano was interviewed recently, only Everton came up in conversation where he admitted that if Brands indicated he wanted him at Goodison, he would certainly consider it.

"Brands brought me to PSV, I'm grateful, happy, but I'm not thinking about whether I'm an option [for Everton].

"If there is an option to leave we'll decide what is the best decision for me and my family, but I'm concentrating on the national team."
