Everton to rival Spurs for Lille's Bissouma

Everton are being linked with another central midfielder, with Yves Bissouma a reported target based on claims by Sky Sports.

The 21-year-old is supposedly being tracked by Tottenham as well as they eye a long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele and they are also said to be monitoring Watford's Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Doucoure has been mentioned as a potential Everton target due to the possibility that Marco Silva will shortly take over as manager at Goodison Park but the Hornets midfielder has already indicated that he wouldn't ditch Watford just because his ex-boss came knocking.

According to Sky's sources — caveat emptor, it's transfer betting season — Everton's interest in Bissouma was initiated by outgoing director of football, Steve Walsh. If true, it remains to be seen whether Marcel Brands would regard the Mali international as highly, based on his plans for improving the Toffees' squad.
