Carvalho talks expected to advance this week
According to A Bola in Portugal, Marco Silva, has endorsed the acquisition of Carvalho with whom he worked for a season as manager of Sporting.
The report comes the day after Silva sat down for exclusive interviews with O Jogo and Record in which he denied that anything is imminent regarding any Portgual-based players.
Carvalho is so far not one of the Sporting players to have requested the cancellation of his contract following the terrifying incident at the Lisbon club's training ground where some of the players was attacked by a group of their own fans.
He is believed to be pushing for a move away, however, and according to the report, Pere Guardiola, brother of Manchester City manager, Pep, has been facilitating negotiations between Sporting and Everton.
"Everything that has been said about William does not correspond to the truth,” Silva said on Monday in quotes cited by Sport Witness.
"The reality is that I have not yet spoken to the owner or Marcel, who I deal with on these things, about any Portuguese football players right now. I'm not saying I will not talk. But at the moment I did not mention any players who are in the Portuguese league.”
The same Bola report suggests that Brands has also been weighing up striker Bas Dost and winger Gelson Martins as potential options from the same club, although Arsenal appear to be leading the chase for the latter.
