Spurs striker a loan target?

22/11/2011 | Comments (6)
If you believe the Daily Mail and the usual slew of dubious internet sites, Everton are ready to turn to Tottenham outcast Roman Pavlyuchenko to boost their attacking options... they hope to secure a loan deal for the 29-year-old.

"If you believe the Daily Mail....." No need to read on after that opening really.

I'd welcome the signing though. Might suit Jags long ball game a little better.

Any good striker similar to Pavluychenko would be welcome in January as we know the problems we have at the moment with Saha's injury problems especially as what we have besides Saha don't seem to be impressing Moyes given that Cahill is a still a regular despite losing his goal touch for the longest time.
Comes a time when enough is enough and what you did in the past just doesn't warrant continued selection.
We need new blood up front and preferably someone who has speed to compliment someone like a Saha or Pavluychenko and the enquiries should be made now so that every possibility is made to have them in place for Jan.1st. and not have something drag out until the end of January when desperation deals are more common.

Whilst part of me would love a new signing up front, there's definitely part of me that thinks a mercurial and inconsistent Russian isn't the answer to our problems.

I'd much rather a right winger, have Coleman at right back and if possible, an attacking creative midfielder to play off a main striker.

Mind you I think I've been saying that for around two years now, so why will this January be any different?

I'd prefer Defoe if he was available.

Please please tell why everyone wants Coleman at right back? What has he done that has seemingly convinced you all that he's the man for that role. I just don't see it.

Yes, he's fast and.... Well, that's it really. He's fast.

The ball rarely seems under control and he runs up more blind alleys than Sean Wright-Phillips!! He can't tackle. He has zero positional sense. And isn't a better defender than Hibbert or Neville. So I ask again... why do you want him at right back?

I note with interest also in the Mail that Lucas Jutkiewicz, formerly of Everton, who is now 22, has been very successful at Coventry that he is now being touted as a £3M target for Southampton.

Given our parlous financial state, will we probably not buy something similar?
