Former Everton midfielder Tom Davies has returned to Finch Farm to maintain his fitness following his release from Sheffield United.
The 28-year-old Academy graduate, who rose through the ranks to captain the Blues and make 179 senior appearances between 2015 and 2023, is currently without a club after his contract expired at Bramall Lane. Everton have granted their former homegrown star permission to utilize the facilities at the club's Halewood training complex and train with Everton U21s to prepare for his next career move.
Davies departed Goodison Park in the summer of 2023 after turning down a contract extension, subsequently joining Sheffield United upon their return to the Premier League. However, his spell in South Yorkshire was heavily disrupted by recurrent injury problems, limiting his ability to secure a regular starting place.

While Evertonians will always fondly remember his iconic solo goal against Manchester City in January 2017, the club's welcoming gesture underlines the strong ongoing bond between Davies and his boyhood club.
Tom Davies then scored a fantastic almost solo goal to make it three!! Picking up the ball deep and going on an excellent run, with a superb trick to totally fool Toure and then getting the ball back from Barkley to finish with a delightful chip over Bravo, Lukaku running in to try and claim the final touch. The 18-year-old was well mobbed by the entire team in front of the old Boys Pen.

Always extra pressure on home grown players at home town club.
Sadly the constant injuries didn't help him, and the constant change of managers, playing him in different positions, didn't help. Hope he finds a club, especially as he's only 28.

He always gave it his all, which should be a given for all players, but sadly isn't.
I wish him well on finding a club that he can flourish at. When fit, he would be an asset to any side outside the Premier League.

My recollection was that Tom's goal against City was at the Park End, but that's merely detail, point being it was a brilliant run and what a class finish.
The future looked really bright for us all on that day, not just for Tom, as with a clutch of young players on show that day like Tom, Ross & Ademola, with his own excellent goal, against a star-studded Man City.

His goal on my Goodison debut was at the Park End. Never experienced a noise like that before.
Not much of a Premier League player, but a terrific fashionista. He couldn't really shoot, pass or dribble, but he could accessorize with the best of them.
I still remember the photo of him and Calvert-Lewin at New York Fashion Week. Yellow pants and purple shoes.

One of a long list of very limited players we tried to persuade ourselves were better than they were, only for Mr Hindsight to prove us wrong.
He will hopefully find his right level. It may not even be Championship let alone Premier League, but I guess that would still make him a decent player by most standards. Just not ours.

Mike, the goal you're referring to was against Leicester in a 4 2 win, wasn't it? 1st minute from Davies.
Still we had to come from behind to win.
I'm sure Jagielka got one and Big Rom a header from a brilliant Barkley cross. In fact, didn't Lukaku get two? I could be wrong.

I remember going to Barnsley away in a friendly. I think we won 3-0. Tom was up and coming, future star etc. No offence, I thought he was shite.
All he did was pass the ball sideways. It was a bit like Baines towards the end of his career. Side or back with absolutely nothing going forward.

Michael, I don't remember the last Premier League game we scored 4 in but I remember 5 at Brighton. We also scored 4 vs Man U at Goodison a few years back. I'd have to Google it for a more recent one 😀
