Everton U18s crashed to a heavy defeat to Sunderland on Tuesday at the Academy of Light.
The young team was clearly pressed to make up the numbers for their penultimate U18 Premier League North match of the season, with a new keeper, Xander Grieves named in goal, and none on the bench, where only three players could be found, with Joseph Kurton and Josh Chigwada new names at this level.
Perhaps no great surprise then when this makeshift side struggled to make much of an impression, despite holding out until after half-time before the second-half onslaught inflicted another defeat.
