Beto was the star of the show as Everton beat Chelsea 3-0 to ensure lift-off at Hill Dickinson Stadium. The Guinea-Bissau striker scored twice and set up Iliman Ndiaye’s third in a majestic display.
It was his best performance of the season and Beto became the first Blues player to score a brace at their new waterfront venue. The win helped the Toffees get to 46 points – three points short of Liverpool in fifth – and maintain their eighth position in the standings.
The Everton number 9, who had one foot out of the door during the winter transfer window, has called playing for the club “God’s gift”.
“The players matched the energy the fans gave us, so I’m really happy,” Beto told evertontv. “It was like the last game at Goodison.
“For me, it’s special (to play for the Club). It’s a God gift. I asked for little things and He gave me this, He gave me this opportunity to be here and be the number nine at the Club.
“The season [wasn’t] going so well and [the fans] keep saying to me: ‘Keep going, Beto! Keep working!’ Today, I was rewarded with two goals, one assist and a good performance.
“You could see the energy (from the fans) and I’m just blessed to be here.”
