Everton U21s took the lead against Sunderland at Walton Hall Park in this Premier League 2 fixture on Friday night but soon fell behind… and that’s the way it stayed.
It was Demi Akarakiri who gave the young Blues the lead after 14 minutes when a clearance from an Everton corner fell nicely for him and he fired home.
But Sunderland were ahead inside the next 10 minutes, firstly after Lukjanciks failed to save a fairly soft shot, before Bates was harshly punished for a coming together in the Everton penalty area that saw the visitors get the early go-ahead goal from the spot and take control for the rest of the game.
