Scott Phelan demands from his Everton Women’s side after they registered three consecutive wins.
The Blues beat West Ham 1-0 at Goodison Park to complete their third win on the trot and shake off the slump that they had been on under former manager Brian Sorensen. Phelan, who replaced Sorensen as an interim coach, has become the first Toffees manager to win back-to-back Women’s Super League games.
The win over Hammers was also their second victory at Goodison Park all season after losing their first six WSL matches there since relocating permanently last summer.
“We spoke about Goodison Park and how happy we are to use it as our home stadium – but we want to make the most of it,” Phelan said.
“We want opposition teams to come here and feel the difference and go away knowing they’ve been in a real tough game. Hopefully, West Ham have felt a little bit of that today in certain moments.
“We want more, but as a start, we couldn’t ask for much more.”
The Toffees have secured some distance between them and the relegation spot at the bottom of the table. They currently sit eighth in the league standings with 17 points. The Blues will now turn their attention towards the upcoming Merseyside derby.
Everton will face city rivals Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
Speaking about the derby, Phelan added, “We live in a football city and there are certain games throughout the calendar that we look for and Liverpool are one of them.
“It’s definitely exciting and we wanted to use the cup to add some excitement to the season as well. The fact that it’s Liverpool as well makes it extra exciting.”
Everton had earlier beaten Liverpool 4-1 at Anfield to open their 2025-26 Women’s Super League campaign.
