Everton U21s winger Isaac Heath has gone on a season-long loan to Accrington Stanley in League Two.
Heath has done farly well as an Everton Academy graduate who joined the Blues aged 13. He was named Player of the Season for the Toffees’ Under-21s, with 6 goal contributions in 16 Premier League 2 matches last season.
A technically gifted and versatile player, the 20-year-old operated in several positions throughout the 2024-25 campaign, including both flanks, attacking midfield, central midfield and right-back.
Heath joined David Moyes’s pre-season squad for the summer, getting time on the pitch in friendly fixtures against Accrington Stanley, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United in the Premier League Summer Series.
But he’s simply not good enough to play at the senior level, despite being given a 2-year contract in July, and given his age, would need to perform to an outstanding level to improve enough while getting competitive games in the lower league.
Speaking to Accrington Stanley’s official website, manager John Doolan admitted he was impressed by Heath’s technical ability when they faced Everton in pre-season.
“Isaac is a very good player,” Doolan explained.
“We looked at him last season but didn’t think we needed that then as we needed to give our lads a chance to showcase what they were about.
“He popped up this season, a number of clubs were interested, and he was more than willing to come. He loves one-v-ones and loves set-plays. He can see a pass and is creative in the final third and wants to make things happen. He has tricks, he can beat his man and will get people off their seats.
“He can play across the front. He has the technical ability and is still learning tactically. We saw him first hand in pre-season when he came on and got a penalty for Everton.
“He is something different, he can get the ball, drive at players and can score goals. He has done that at the level he is at, he has trained with the Everton First Team and hopefully he can take that into the EFL.”
