Everton have been strongly linked with a move for Chelsea’s out-of-favour striker Armando Broja and have held talks with the London club over a potential deal.
The Athletic are the most reliable outlet to have carried the story, claiming that there has been dialogue with Chelsea over the Albania international but any transfer is dependent on the Toffees first raising funds through other deals.
Broja is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and looking for a new club after an unsuccessful loan spell at Fulham this past season.
A potential move to Monaco this summer has reportedly stalled and while reports that Everton were offering Chelsea around £30m for the striker were wide of the mark, it does seem as though the two clubs are in contact over a possible deal.
However, Todd Boely and his hierarchy are reportedly in no rush to tie up a deal before Euro 2024 where Broja could put himself in the shop window with a strong showing for Albania.
The Athletic report suggests that Dominic Calvert-Lewin may need to be sold before Broja is an option for the Blues. The long-time Everton centre-forward is entering the final year of his current contract but is in negotiations over a new deal.
Everton made a concerted effort to land Broja on a season-long loan two years ago when Frank Lampard was preparing for his first full season in charge but could not persuade Chelsea to part with him.
