Everton Under-21s goalkeeper George Pickford has completed a short-term loan move to National League side AFC Fylde.
The 19-year-old shot-stopper makes the step into senior non-league football to gain crucial first-team competitive minutes at Mill Farm.
Speaking to Fylde’s official website, who hailed the move as a “coup”, manager Craig Mahon said: “We’re delighted to welcome George Pickford to the club.
“George is a goalkeeper who we feel will add real quality to the group, and we’re looking forward to working with him.
“We’ve got a strong group of goalkeepers here, and adding George gives us further competition and strength in an important position.”

What The Move Means
With senior match action critical for young goalkeepers, this temporary spell with AFC Fylde in the National League gives George Pickford a direct outlet to test himself against physical, first-team opposition before returning to challenge for the Everton U21 starting shirt… although the potential pathway to first-team involvement is firmly blocked by a long list that includes Frances Barnsley, Douglass Lukjanciks, Tom King, and Mark Travers.
