 Early Issues

First issued in the 1994/95 season to coincide with the return of Joe Royle and the start of a new era in Everton history, the monthly club magazine is called The Evertonian.  In fact there was an even earlier if short-lived incarnation, dating from the 1970s.

Originally a tabloid-style newsprint edition it was published by the Liverpool Daily Post & Echo Ltd, and initially provided current and meaningful information for Evertonians everywhere.

The Evertonian started out as seasonal publication, with less than 12 issues in each volume:

Since January 1997, the "Volume" business has been dropped and the magazine is published every month as a series of sequential issues. The Evertonian for December 1998 was a special celebration Issue 50, and included 50 Great Everton Goals.

Volume 3

The first issue of Volume 3 (dated August 1996) appeared at the start of 1996-97 season. The Evertonian for January 1997 would have been Issue 6 of Volume 3 bit it was simply called Issue No 28.  That was strange because all the earlier issues only total 23 in number.  What happened to the other four issues???

Volume 2

Volume 2 kicked off in August 1995; with 11 issues covering the 1995-96 season.

Volume 1

The first issue of Volume 1 appeared in December 1994.  Issue 7 (June 1995) was a special one published on May 30, 1995, to celebrate Everton's great victory over Manchester United in the 1995 FA Cup Final.

Early issues of The Evertonian may be available from Merseyside Football Programmes.
