So... earn a good wedge as a respected member of the medical profession... or make a killing playing the passion of your life as a soccer superstar?

Anton Peterlin is determined to do both, having rather smartly dodged the MLS schilling in order to finish his "basic training" in medical school in California.  His passion for "proper" football (as opposed to that yankee throwball crap) was maintained through the long hours of medial study by playing for Ventura County Fusion, a Premier Development League team existing in the fourth tier of US soccer.

It was against them that Everton played a "secret" friendly in 2008 and it was then, we can surmise, that Anton Peterlin first attracted the attention of David Moyes.  'Anton really impressed myself and the coaching staff with his attitude and undoubted ability,' said Moyes, giving the young American a one-year deal in August 2009 to prove himself at the advanced age of 22.

Anton was able to secure a UK work permit by virtue of dual US/Danish citizenship thanks tto his Danish mum.

Life at FInch Farm, though, really did not deliver the ecpecte results for Anton. He got to play in most of the Everton Reserves games during the season (and was on the bench for all but one of the others) but failed to score, and it was perhaps no surprise that he was sent on his way at toward the end his one-year contract, ultimately ending up with Peter Reid at Plymuth Argyle.
