Branding
26/01/06

Good comments from Neil Scott in the Mailbag re the Times article and the state of our club. I read the same article and wasn't at all surprised at the 'customer experience' he received. Let's face it, home fans don't get much better treatment. I paid nearly 30 quid (with those lovely Internet booking fees they put on) to sit in the Gwladys St to watch the Bolton game. I spent the whole 90 minutes bobbing from left to right behind a pillar trying to see where the ball was. (Given the result I wish I'd stayed looking at the post). I'd hate to see what they define as 'restricted view'.

I know the ground isn't something they can do much about in the short term but it's the principle of customer service and branding, as Neil points out. It's the way they don't seem to give a shit that pisses me off. If Keith Wyness held his hands up and said 'sorry I know its crap but put up with it for a bit while we sort it out' I would say fair enough and keep on paying a fortune for the shit service. Why? Because I'm an Evertonian and that's what I do. The brand 'Everton' is pretty much the only asset they've got as a business. Without it they wouldn't have 35,000 fans in the ground every week given the level of customer satisfaction that is received in return. There’s absolutely NO other reason. No other business in the world would get away with it. I'd like some acknowledgement of this fact from the club.

People say that this site is negative and to be fair it is a bit. But I'm amazed actually that its not a lot worse considering how we're treated. Matthew Davies tells us not to go on about the Kroldrup saga any more but hang on a minute, mate, don't we have a right to know what went on? It's our money down the plughole at the end of the day. Again I'd be happy if DM just held his hands up and said 'sorry I fucked up'. Everyone's entitled to make mistakes but what's winding me up is the complete lack of respect shown to the fans by the so called 'People's Club'. Did they think we wouldn't notice? They haven’t said a word about it.

The powers that be at the club are treating the fans like mugs. There's negativity and there's negativity and I'm getting the feeling from reading the comments that people are getting to the stage where they are getting so fed up they will eventually walk away — killing the last asset the club has got. Keith Wyness’s lasting legacy?

It's an easy problem to fix. Just give us some respect and treat us like the paying customers we are.
