Kenwright may have blocked Barton move
Bill Kenwright's decision not to cave in to cash demands by Joey Barton and his agent is the rumoured reason why a proposed move for the boyhood Blue eventually fell through and the midfielder ended up at Newcastle.
A source suggests that Kenwright risked putting David Moyes's nose out of joint — and rightly so — by refusing to pay the former Manchester City man a signing on bonus, a scenario that is seemingly backed up by a story in the The Independent.
The report claims that Barton's move to St James Park was only completed yesterday after Newcastle agreed to pay a extra £300,000 on top of the £5.5m already agreed with City to cover demands by the player and his agent for a bonus to finalise the deal.

Moyes has it all in hand
Few websites can match Football-Rumours.com for sheer weight of ridiculous transfer rumours, blatantly inaccurate innuendo and general Football-Manager-style wishful thinking, but every now and then a submission shows up amongst the nonsense that is written by someone who doesn't claim to be the Old Trafford groundsman's sister's dog-walker and who can string together a readable paragraph, leading you to believe there may be some truth in what he/she is saying.
That was the case yesterday when a posting suggested that:
- David Nugent and Leighton Baines both want to move to Everton but both are currently on England U21 Duty and won't be able to discuss personal terms or conduct medicals until they return from Holland, which would be 24th June at the latest. Fees are being agreed with Preston and Wigan in the meantime.
- Bill Kenwright's involvement in the show 'Any Dream Will Do' has kept him tied up in London so he hasn't had time for transfer discussions and the like. With the finale of the show out of the way, the Chairman can return to Goodison Park to tie up a one-year loan deal for Manuel Fernandes and to secure the signature of Phil Jagielka if Sheffield United lose their appeal against relegation. That decision is due on 18th June and Jagielka will sign that day for £4m if, as is widely expected, the decision goes against the Yorkshire club.
- Deals are also believed to be in the pipe line for Jason Koumas (£3m), Justin Mapp (an American Winger who plays for Chicago Fire) on a one-year loan and Jonny Evans from Manchester United for an unknown fee as a long-term replacement for Alan Stubbs.
- Leaving will be James McFadden and Andy van der Meyde, the former going to Rangers or Derby, the latter to FC Twente.
- The rumours of James Beattie swapping places with Jason Roberts are true, but this deal is likely to take some time. Any deal would involve Jason Roberts + cash, because Moyes doesn't actually want to sell Beattie, so any offer for him would take some persuasion.

AJ rumours persist
Everton may be adamant that their prized striker, Andy Johnson, is not for sale and that no bids for the 26 year-old are welcome, but the rumours linking him with money-bags West Ham won't go away easily.

The report also preys on the latest angle, that of Johnson's wife, Louise, being unsettled on Merseyside and hankering for a move back down south. That suggestion has been raised by other sources closer to Everton but it's not clear how much truth there is to it.
