100 años de calidad ? Happy Birthday, CD Everton

The cake may have to wait, though, at least for the players, as the team is engaged tonight in the Championship playoff semi-final first leg at home to Universidad de Chile, kick off 8pm Chilean time, 1 am ours.
This is the competition the Chileans won last year to claim their fourth League title; there to see them try for the ?fifth star? are five English Evertonians, who also saw them beat Iquique in Sunday?s quarter-final. John Shearon, Anne and James Asquith, Paul Wharton and Michael Durkin will be joined by Juan Foxley, nephew of the founder David Foxley, Club President Antonio Bloise and 20,000 others in a packed Sausalito stadium tonight.
John and the others have a busy schedule and, having given a guest talk on the shared history to the Club Viña, they?ll be presenting a large number of Everton shirts, kindly donated by the Everton Former Players Foundation, as well as a large cheque, courtesy of EFC Shareholders Association to a special needs school in Viña del Mar this Friday. Fraternal visits to Argentina and Uruguay, to the Everton clubs founded in those countries, follow next week; many more shirts and special gifts donated by our own Club.
A bunch of teenagers, who set up the club on 24 June 1909, could scarcely have imagined, 100 years on, what it would grow into, but we can salute them and those who carry the responsibility and the hopes and expectations of their fanatical support today.
John and co are great ambassadors for our Club and we join them in the wish that the anniversary is celebrated with a resounding victory, that progress is made to ultimate victory in the playoffs, that the links and co-operation between our clubs continue to grow and develop and that, for all Clubs named Everton, the next 100 years bring success, prosperity and many memorable moments for all.
Once an Evertonian, twice an Evertonian. Or even three or four times.

Pause the action at 1:26 and tell me what you can see!!!
Pre-season... it?ll happen one day soon ? should have been this year of course but too many ifs and buts seemingly.
Michael Jackson connection ? he played the Estadio Nacional once, back in 1993, sponsored by Pepsi as opposed to Colo Colo. BAD joke. (Gets coat.)
We donated the "Peoples Club" flag earlier in the day. Re the Everton v Everton fixture, this has been overlooked again as the Club arranges a mediocre fiendly against Malaga. There has been a lot of interest in the potential Everton v Everton - maybe it’s time for the fans to let the Club know of their interest / desre to have this fixture.
