We all need to stand up and be counted

By Nick West :  15/08/2008 :  Comments (8) :
Whatever has happened ? or not ? this summer, whatever your feelings or opinions about Blue Bill, Wyness, or the Government for calling in the stadium, whether you think we should be going to Kirkby or not ? now is the time to bury all those thoughts in a deep hole and get right behind the team.

You know Moyesy will have been busting a gut to get things right for this season, you know the majority of our players are committed to the shirt. Whatever the reasons for the situation Everton Football Club finds itself in at the moment, we still have a very good squad of players when we get them on the pitch.

Starting from Saturday against Blackburn the fans need to take up the slack. If Moyesy puts some of the young lads in ? they must be supported to the hilt. We have players coming back in the next few weeks, like Cahill, Anichebe and Pienaar and hopefully some new additions before the window closes. So now is the time to stop moaning and worrying. We need to help the team get through this period and off to a flyer. Now is the time for us all to stick together and be true Evertonians.

Fair enough Nick and point taken but surely its a two way street?

No doubt we WILL get behind this makeshift team of defenders and kids, but whether the club DESERVE it or not is a different matter and it would be nice to see the club making some kind of visible statement to the fans to show its not taken for granted.

Maybe AVDM could be pushed around the pitch in his wheelchair before the kick off throwing ten pound notes into the crowd like the toffee lady? God knows what he’s getting paid these days but lets face it its the only chance we’ve got of seeing something for it.

Maybe the board doesn’t deserve it, actually they definitely don’t, however this could be a huge match for many of the youngsters who will be extremely nervous including Rodders who will probably be starting for the first time, they need us to get right behind them and calm their nerves.

Our job is to support, it doesn’t matter what the board has done we need to get behind that team and send ourselves hoarse if it means it’ll help them.

I’ve waited patientlly this summer on a number of issues and heard an awful lot of so called sincere commitment from variuos parties but, one issue that is in a certain persons hands is DM’s own contract signature, for me, that has been the real let down - it paints a bad picture David !!.

I’m betting that if Vaughan is available, the Eveton staring line-up will not include even ONE of these suddenly much vaunted youngsters.Believe me,Moyes is getting as evasive and bullshitting as his masters. He’s fucked up big-time and is in his death throes!

Well said Ben. these appologists go on about Moyes’s team being better than the nineties, maybe so, but to my mind they were not as good as any of the ones that I watched in the 40’s 50’s 60’s 70’s or the 80’s! Moyes haas a lot to answer for. He goes on about the loyalty to the players, what about the fans who have stood by him. these latest excuses are pathetic, his dithering is bloody endless! To mmy mind he is just a average Championship manager, and will never amount to anything else!

The thing that has annoyed me this summer is that we keep getting promised players and nothing ever comes of it. so kenwrong keeps promising things that are never going to come true. sporting lisbon have told us they want 18m at least so why are we wasting time buy bidding 11.5m its silly and pointless. and another thing is that moysey keeps coming out and sayin he’s here to stay so why hasnt he sighned his contract yet???. this great club is getting run totally wrong. we have a poor milllionair and a poor buisnessman for a chairman. so i would just wish he would stop coming out and saying we will have 6 or 7 players in when it is never going to happen. and alan smith would be a stupid sighning. the only good news i have heard this summer is that idiot keith wyness walked out and that the kirby stadium has been called in. i dont understand why investors dont want to buy into everton because it would be a great bargain in my eyes. because look at what we can achive without money. so if we had money we would be deadly. in moyes we trust. *he is just a average Championship manager, and will never amount to anything else!*

A fair and well thought out comment...if you choose to ignore the fact that he is an extremely highly regarded Premiership manager currently managing in the Premiership.

Albert, what has he come anywhere near to winning? The league cup? I dont think he is very highly regarded for his hoofball, do you? An I certainly dont recall any club askng about obtaining his services from Everton. If you are talking about what people say about him on telly and radio, surely you dont expect them to publicly denigrate the man, or do you.Dont forget, we are still waiting for this world class attacking midfielder, we were promised, six years ago was it?
