How can any one expect others to take an interest when the game played is detrimental to its success?

The women's game is increasing in popularity and in some areas of the world is the fastest growing sport. Perhaps it deserves more attention and maybe some of the "other" Everton teams e.g. Reserves/Under 18's etc do as well.

Living in the South East (a few years ago), my kids were keen to go and support the women's team at London games so I spent ages trying to find a fixture list, which when seen didn't offer any details of where they were actually playing! I spoke to several different peope at the club (box office, even got the youth team coach!) but nobody could help.

Someone finally gave me a number of someone who they were sure would be able to advise us about the venue of upcoming games. It was Mo Marley's personal mobile number. I couldn't believe it. I imagine if I'd have asked for directions to a first team game I could have got a direct line to Moyes.

At the time, I was told the women's team have to fund themselves and get virtually nothing from EFC. Is this still the case? Oh and good to see we still have our fair share of neanderthals on TW... all so predictable.

Women's Rugby World Cup is in England this summer. England one of the two top teams in it. Easy to critcise how they play too. But watch and enjoy.

I support Everton Football Club, to me that means the 1st team — not the youth, reserves or ladies or kids teams — no offence meant but I'm not really interested in those unless it reflects directly on the 1st eleven.

That said, I have met some (few) lady Evertonians with the same passion as their male counterparts and I suspect even they wouldn't really be arsed with watching woman's footy if they were totally honest.

As regards Politcal Correctness - I am an Evertonian and I AM interested in how ALL of our teams do and that includes the Basketball team as well as all the Football teams.. The fact that Everton Ladies team has done so well in League and Cup over the last few years I believe reflects well on Everton Football Club as a whole.

If you look at some of the clubs in Spain and Germany for example — such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Schalke 04 — they run teams in sports such as basketball and hockey. I think it is a useful "model" for clubs in this country to follow. It would certainly increase the fan base as I am sure that there would be a lot of interest generated in the overall club and the identification with the club would cut across the boundaries of the different sports.

I watched the whole game with my two boys and we cheered our asses off with every goal. The standard between the two top sides in the female game was very high and the match itself had everything. Rachel Brown in Everton goal was magnificent and Natasha Dowie has a real eye for goal (apart from being stunning by the way).

Let's hope the girls show off the trophy at Goodison this weekend and we all show our appreciation.

I also think that the result yesterday against an Arsenal team that is the only professionally paid women's football team in the UK is a brilliant result. Don't forget, they've won the league year after year after year, and the domestic cups for the last 4 years. Well done to the "Everton" girls, brilliant — gerrin there!
