I've just read an interesting article all about online feeds at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.

Our favourites including JustinTV, UstreamTV, LiveStream, TVU, Channelsurfing.net, Adthe.net, Sopcast, TVAnts and myp2p.eu all get a mention so could be worth a read and a discussion.

I would gladly pay the price of a season ticket or more to be able to watch every Everton match live on my telly instead of an unreliable internet stream. But then addicts will drink methylated spirits if a fine bottle of Macallan 1974 is not available. Discuss?

Not much point given the article you mention requires you to give them your details, before reading the damn thing! Maybe you could copy and paste it, in order to generate the discussion you want?

Down here in Oz, we have no complaints about TV coverage of Everton games that are all shown live. Then again, we wouldn't be true Evertonians unless we had one or two grizzles.

My first complaint concerns the ridiculous viewing time of kick offs. You should stay up until 2 or 3 am and see how you like it.

And another thing, invariably we have to suffer a pre-match attempt by the RS continental fan base desperately trying to mouth YNWA. That dirge was pinched from a USA musical and is now an important part of the RS global publicity package.

Our own Z-Cars is far more exhilarating and importantly has its roots in this great seaport yet we never hear it. Maybe that is something for our much maligned publicity department to address.

Tony,

I'm afraid piracy is a modern trend that's difficult to control because everybody loves "something for nothing".

As you say, the only way to compete with it is to offer a better quality proposition or to offer live matches free supported by tons of sponsorship and/or advertising.

IMO, if EvertonTV were to get it's act together, it could significantly increase revenues for the club.

On the other hand, if you've any '74 Macallan going, I'll forego the internet streaming et al.

Amazing really, that if you don't live within a decent distance to get to games every week, then it's better to live here in Norway than Northampton ......there have only been 2 or 3 games not sent here this season on Canal Digital... not bad for a team that finished eighth in the league.

Jay, surely EvertonTV couldn't show the games live because of the Premier League TV rights and all the regulations that come with (of which I admittedly know little about) — but also the Premier League's rules that no games can be shown between 3 - 5 on a Sat so as not to impact on attendances.

Dick, you are spot on. I think the Premier League should have at least one 2 am kick off each week — just so the Australian audience can watch the game live at a reasonable hour.

I suggested a TV season ticket years ago.... Unfortunately I don't think we'd make as much as we do under the current system.

And I also don't think the Premier League have the balls to do it... Just take a look at their contrived and illogical reasoning (reduced crowds) for the broadcasting ban on 3 o'clock kick-offs...

I used to listen to the away games on Radio City but if I am at home I now watch on a Chinese station I downloaded, PPTV. The only annoying thing is Chinese popups that appear, but someone told me how to get rid of them, which I did. So far only one match I have watched had Chinese commentary.

Dick,

sorry but whilst you may have no complaints as to how the Premier League is telecast here in Oz, I don't think you speak for all of us. Not all of us can afford or have access to cable TV (Foxtel et al), so the only way for some of us to catch our beloved Blues thru a crappy internet stream! I do agree with you on the ridiculous kickoff times though. Oh and I would so love to kick Robbie Slater in his pro RS nuts. What a poor excuse of a football commentator he is...

I can't afford a sports package anymore so I watch as many away games and games I can't get to on the net.

Wouldn't it be a shame if all the people watching dodgy streams online should affect the football coffers so much that players could then only afford to buy one house per month instead of 2 or 3!

Reduce the ridiculous prices charged and see a surge in uptake.

I would pay for decent coverage on the Everton TV site but not at Sky prices. Maybe something like £5 per game.

To be fair, though, crappy internet streams are much better than what we had 10 years ago — aka nothing!

But I'd happily pay for a season ticket for Hi-Def quality online streams of Everton matches.

Aussie fans, I have heard a strong murmor that One HD are trying to get the rights for the early kick-off a la SBS a few years ago. This would be brill as it means most of our big games would be on.

A complaint about astrophysics - on the basis of hemispheric differentials of daylight in relation to the geometry of the Earth and Sun?

I believe the FA rule only applies to the UK.

Setanta, ESPN and Fox all broadcast a load of matches at the 3pm KO time.

I don't know a great deal about the regulation but if internet streamers (if that's what we call them) and foreign broadcasting companies can show it then IMO so can Everton TV or whatever else we call it. Maybe have it registered in the Cayman Isles or somewhere.

Maybe Robert Earl can come up with something as he knows his way around dodges. Ciaran, can you come up with a hemispherical differentiation that would work?.

Jay (post 4) - The Macallan 1974: 30 years old is drawn from casks selected to achieve maximum intensity and depth of flavor, including some traditional sherry seasoned hogshead casks specially reserved for this expression. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at the old-style 80 proof, more commonly known as ’20 under’. But the problem is that they are signed up to the Sky deal.

Derek (5) - No.

Tony (6) - Yes, this is a crazy situation for fans who can't get to the match but would pay to watch.

Ciarán (9) - Have I ever been to watch Stirling Albion in the last 20 years at 3pm on a Saturday? NO!

My predication is that Sky will offer games on a pay-per-view basis in the UK cheap enough to tempt fans (or groups of mates in one house) to pay, even if they are not a Sky sports subscriber.

Everton don't have the rights to broadcast any live games. That belongs to the Premier League as a contractual agreement of membership.

As for hemispheric differentials...I could tweak the flux capacitor.
