Europa Cup - What if Fulham Win?

Comments (7)

A lot of supporters were disgruntled with a suggestion that the winners of this cup would automatically qualify for the same tournament the following season. Most were of the mindset that it was because of Liverpool, that the system was manipulated for Liverpool's benefit. Things change however...

Fulham play the final, are outside of the automatic qualifying table positions and IMO have a very good shot at being the victors. Should this be the case, how will the PL hierarchy act as this will affect the team that finishes seventh? Seventh could be occupied by Villa or Liverpool depending on the season's final match results. Conspiracy theory follows:

Aston Villa finish in that spot, Fulham play next year at Villa's expense; Liverpool finish in that spot and Fulham denied the chance to defend the crown or the PL allow Fulham to compete regardless.

Interesting...

Fulham will enter the competition instead of Liverpool, giving Liverpool more rest in between league games and a better shot at winning domestic silverware. I hope the Shite have to play away in Romania on a Thursday night and suffer the equivalent injury list we've endured this season.

The conspiracy theory is Liverpool claim the 4th CL spot, no questions asked, they're just given it.

If you win the Europa League but are outside of the qualifying places, you get an extra spot, you don't take the place of the any qualifying teams.

So, if Fulham win it, there will be 4 English teams in next season's Europa League.

Loose and fast with the word 'interesting'..

This has been done to death.

It won't affect the team that finishes 7th.

If Fulham win it, BOTH them AND 7th place will be in the Europa League next year.

If Fulham DO win it and indeed there are 4 English teams in the Europa, Pierre Luigi Collina is coming out of retirement. He will not be in charge of the shite's games though.

I thought I read something about Portsmouth going to lodge an appeal over the decision not to allow them in next year?

Oh god not this again!
Who cares, it wont be Everton in Europe.
City, Villa and the Shite are in Europe league. Fulham will join them if they win it.

Simples.....!
