Real shame because he showed plenty of promise. However, one departs (likely) and Lukas returns, he could be on the fringes next season. His penalty versus Rangers in the 3-3 draw was cool, calm, and collected.
I know it's Scottish football but 13 goals in his maiden season with a couple of crackers to boot, and that pen at Ibrox which takes some nerve believe me!! It's a hot place to play regardless of standard; shows me that he could be the answer upfront eventually.
Shame on the lad.

Good link Paul, obviously a deal is not finalised but it's interesting to hear Bates talk about Beckford playing for us so openly.
On the Vaughan subject, I can't believe a fit, athletic young man can't be kept injury free (or certainly freer) by a professional medical staff. His career's practically over and it hasn't started. To officially begin using the past tense, Vaughan had what it takes to make it at Everton, but the time has now passed.

Dick Anderson - Your post shows all the understanding, empathy and intelligence of Hitler. It ever occurred to me that the incurrence of serious injury, on several occasions and solely in pursuit of his career, was tantamount to being a passenger and a flop.

I can't help but feel bad for the kid. He has had so much potential destroyed by injuries. I hope he can stay healthy in the future but unfortunately, it will probably be with a lower league club.

Do you think Vaughan goes out of his way to get injured all the time?
We should be sympathising with a young player who has never given less than 100% commitment and effort whenever he has pulled on the blue shirt.
Yes we are all frustrated that he has not turned out to be as good as we hoped but that is down to his injuries not his commitment.

You seem to have some sort of vendetta against him. Funnily enough it was James Vaughan that kick started our impressive second half to the season with a late goal against Burnley in December. Funny how short your memory is.
Knee pain and injury can be almost crippling and that'd bad enough for anyone, never mind a person so young. He's always given 100% in a Blue shirt, shame you can't remember that and show a bit of humanity.

I feel really sorry for Vaughan. When he first burst onto the scene I remember being more excited about him than I was about Wayne R***ney a few years earlier.
Vaughan had ENORMOUS potential and should have become truly world class, but for some terrible injuries.

Bit harsh Dick, yes his career will end due to injury, but it's not his fault. Do you also blame Dean Ashton for his career ending too early?
Give JV a break, sadly his development has been hed back through many injuries, tis a pity I had hopes for him a fews years ago.

What annoys me is that if Yakubu had scored 9 goals in 6 years he would be getting terrible abuse from the fans. Vaughan seems to be above that abuse just because he is young. Well he's 23 soon and that excuse is getting old.
I believe in the philosophy of 'good enough, old enough'. And it works both ways. Vaughan has had terrible injuries but that's his bad luck.
I'm sorry he just doesn't contribute enough to justify his place in Everton's squad. It's time to move on from this player.

I agree it may be time for Vaughan to move on! I don't think this loan has been of any benefit other than to emphasise Vaughan's injury plagued body to potential suitors as we'll struggle to get £3mill!

I think we all feel truly sorry about Vaughan's career. I don't think there's one fan who hasn't in the last few years spoken about him to fans of other clubs like a proud father. We all hoped that... no, actually, we didn't hope — we knew he would come good, and that going to Goodison to see him would be a pleasure as well as maybe seeing him leading the line for England.
Unfortunately, for many a proud parent, the day comes when you have to accept that it's time to move on... In Jose Baxter we trust!

I too feel sorry for Vaughan. He's a young lad to accumulate so many injuries I would worry about his long term health after football. His parents must be worried sick already. Best of luck lad. COYB

In the past, Vaughan has benefitted from his young age, many fans believe he'll eventually come good but he's 23 in a couple of months and now even those fans are beginning to question his worth to the squad.
His time at Leicester was a flop. Once again Vaughan proved himself unable to contribute to the team on a regular basis.
Everton don't need passengers and Vaughan simply isn't ever going to contribute enough to justify his place. He had some talent as a raw youngster but that's slowly dwindled away. Time to be James Vaughan goodbye.
