Please follow the link included in this post. Its a good read and very well balanced. Let's hope with a fit squad this season and a few additions, we can finally push on to the Holy Grail of the Champions League!

In depth and fairly accurate assessment of our season. Have to largely agree with James on most of the issues raised, although I'm still unsure of Distin, and feel he has too many 'Yobo Moments' in which fans are watching him desperately make up for a slip or back pass through their hands. I'm thinking he's more of a back up (eg to cover like he did this seaosn while others were out). I can see Jagielka and Heitinga forming a solid central defensive partnership.

Also, I don't share his views regarding the stadium debate. I really don't think redeveloping Goodison is a viable option, largely because of its location and the bill it would rack up. But I do agree that the stadium deadlock is the stumbling block for many potential investors choosing not to invest.

Great article all round!

"Whether they all stay this summer will go a long way to signalling the club and the board’s ambitions and intent for next season".

The most important line in what was a very good read.

Not much better than the piece that was recently slated — still plenty of lazy journalism & ill-informed comment. Perhaps he could have started by getting his Evertonian brother to read the piece before submission to pick up on those tricky details — like whether the last game of the season against Pompey was at home or away!

Here's Phil McNulty's verdict too. All seems fair enough really.

My version.

First half of the season - crap, second half promising. Need 3 players. Next.

Thanks for that contribution Ciaran, we will stick to the more interesting versions that have taken some thought!
