Moyes for Liverpool?

So, it is an Evertonian web site, for views about Everton.

Today on Talk Sport (Alan Brazil's programme) specualtion was about replacements fro Rafa Benitez at Liverpoool. Part of the discussion was with "Chicken" and there was a suggestion that Mr Moyes may well fit the bill.

Doubt it, Ian. Moyes is a man of much higher character than that... I hope...

I was really disappointed to see Rafa go though. The RS are much better off without him and that is truly unfortunate.

It's open season on our club with the media tossers. All our best players are being linked with moves away, now our manager with a switch across the park. I don't see any other club having to put up with this right now.

Somebody, somewhere is trying to de-stablise our club.

The answer to your question is I trust his integrity implicitly. Some time ago, when interviewed and asked what seemed to be a cheeky, off-the-cuff question about where else he might manage, Moyes answered it directly by saying he would never manage Liverpool FC. At that juncture it was the only club he utterly dismissed and he elaborated by saying that would be disrepectful to us the fans, something he would never do. Not something he doubted he could do or something he could never imagine himself doing but a catagoric something he would never do.

Good enough for me... so next question.

Apart from the fact he is too much of an Evertonian now, Liverpool is up for sale, anyone taking that job now risks losing it as soon as new owners come in. It would be pure stupidity.

All the headlines have been "Moyes urges toffeees to stick" etc.etc.. How could a man of principle then turn around and walk out on his contract?

I agree with Lee. He is a man of integrity worth our trust, unlike some.

On a more serious note, I sense the RS have now moved into terminal decline.

It would take some special sort of space cadet to put their millions into that lot given their debt and the current state of the team.

I am reminded of Jim Callaghan’s comment about a sea change. The Champions’ League win that kept Rafa his job for all those years may well have led directly to the permanent demise of the RS. After all their crowing and triumphalism, it’s time for a bit a schadenfreude.

When he became Everton manager, he called it "the people's club'. I believe not only would he defy his words by joining Liverpool but he would also jeopardise his reputation and be dictated in the way he manages by people who are the top of the hierarchy and call all the footballing decisions. He's in a comfort zone at Everton with very little politics involved, that would be the reason why he would not move across the park.

I really hope that they get somebody who actually understands the nature of the rivalry and history of both clubs. I'm getting fed up with the hateful crap spouted by sections of both sets of supporters and the officials on their side who, for several years (mostly since Parry went there and Sky invented football), have forgotten that we still live in a city where reds and blues work together, live in the same families and even marry each other.

If they had any sense, they'd get Pellegrini (now jobless) who did a superb job at Villarreal on limited resources, which is what they now have. Hopefully that won't happen and it'll be somebody with an uncontrollable ego — like Martin O'Neill or Mark Hughes.

Yes; actually, I think Moyesy could leave Everton for Liverpool. It would mean he doesn't have to move, his hair matches their shirts and he could follow in the tradition of successful Scottish managers at the RS.

And when Moyesy joins them, Tony Hibbert will score a hatrick, Yakubu will be seen racing 40 yards to chase down a full back and Fellaini will cut his hair.

And we will riot.

Why is this topic even being discussed? It's just the kopite media with a bad attempt at troublemaking. If they bothered researching for five minutes, they'd know Moyes has already categorically ruled out ever managing Liverpool and anyone who has watched any Moyes interview on the subject would know there's no leverage on the matter.

Basically, it's some upset media Kopites trying the old "little club" jibe again.

Secretly many of their fans would love Moyes to move across the park, they know he would be perfect for the job. If he can get a team consisting of Pistone, Kilbane, Marcus Bent, Gary Naysmith, etc to a 4th place finish, what would he do with Gerrard, Reina, Torres and Mascherano?

Fortunately he would never touch that sinking ship with a stick covered in the brown sticky stuff!

I'm in full agreement with Lee (post 4). Why would Moyes leave us to join a ship sinking faster than the Titanic did? I for one will be sorry to see the fat Spanish waiter go, as I thought he was doing a great job.

It wouldn't surprise me if they appoint that jumping fool, aka O'Neill, who will IMO take them further down the league, as he is one the most over-rated managers about and with a shoestring budget to work with next season, there will be only one way the RS will be heading.

Let's just hope the Americans aren't removed from their posts so quickly.

LFC need the dream team of John Barnes and Tony Adams to take their club the way it was heading with Rafa... the Conference, hopefully.

I just hope they don't get Roy Hodgson as he's someone I quite like and not the odious gobshite that typifies a RS manager (or player for that matter).

I think the RS should establish a new bootroom to bring back former glories, so I'd opt for Souness & Houllier, because they both got the boot. Seriously, don't give a flying one who takes over, maybe it should be the Chair of the RBS. I've love to see DM's reaction if they asked him on camera.
