A lot of posts are commenting on media speculation concerning our players and in some cases our manager.
Next season, IMO and with our current squad, it will be Everton that will have the top four looking over their shoulders. We know it but so do the top four clubs, as well as City, Villa and the once almighty Liverpool.
Now the best way to fuck all that good work up is to buy their best players, and if possible pinch their manager, and the media are doing what their masters want by stating that Arteta, Pienaar, Rodwell, Heitinga, Jags, Rodwell, Yak, Fellaini & Baines are all wanted by bigger and better clubs (I have seen reference to all these players being linked with other clubs).
Basically guys we have a cracking team and we are going to have to live with the media speculation. Man Utd had it with Ronaldo and now Rooney, Arsenal now have it with Fabregas and Spurs have it with Bale and Modic. Do you people not think that it’s fucking brilliant that we have the same media speculation for so many of our players, that’s because we have the players that other teams want!
Journalists sell papers and will print a sentence in any manner that will sell their papers, maybe twisting a word or two here or there. In particular reference to Heitinga, the guy plays for Everton and is contracted to Everton but more importantly he gives 100 percent effort on the pitch, until that scenario ends, he will always have my full support.

I reckon the media is overrun with red shites, a lot of the glory-hunting public schoolboys from the 70s and 80s must now be journalists and they are making sure we never get any credit at all unless it's insulting bullshit about us punching above our weight when we finish fifth, like it's some sort of achievement for a club our size. Arrogant pricks.
The world has gone fucking mad when our own players are implying Manchester City are a bigger club than us.
If we can keep hold of our best players, we are going to roll some fucking heads next season. COYB.

I watched a piece on ESPN... The Greatest, all about the World Cup greats.
Maradonna on the 'hand of God'... short version; gabbers off on Spanish 19 to the dozen (translated voice over) I knew I couldn't get it so I had a go with my hand, no one more surprised than me when it went in and when the Ref gave it... like I'm going to turn it down???
Then...
Beckenbaur...In German, translated voice over... This game, those goals and on to the Semi Final, the German lips say... the Semi-Final at EVERTON... translated voice over.... The semi Final in Liverpool... WTF!!... no wonder we're bitter

Trouble with that is, if the players don't talk to the media now, the media will simply dig up something they said several months ago and make it like they said it yesterday. And if necessary spin it out of all proportion. (You know the sort of thing, a dramatic headline with an innocuous quote in paragraph 4.)
And if the players don't say anything, there'll be even more conspiracy theories about why they're keeping their mouths shut!
"Our" players have a responsibility to quash rumours if they want to show loyalty to the Club, but that responsibility is not taken fully on board by some of them. In the case of Moyes, perhaps his months-long sulk re contract gave the hacks the idea that a suitable offer could see him gone.
For example, Rooney — Once a Blue, Always a Blue — yet he left because as a player he could achieve / has achieved more with Manure than he would have with us. Money can come into it; which of you would not leave your current employers for double your money doing the same job??? "Ah but they get enough anyway", Ah, but don't be fucking stupid. They probably came to us in the first place for more money. Prestige / honours — that's what counts, we've not won fuck all for years.
We have some decent players that other teams would like; other teams have decent players that we would like — it's all about balancing things out. Moyes does have a knack of getting the right type of character into the side and slowly but surely we're getting better... Hopefully our players will see that and realise "Hey, we might be going places here... I think I'll give it another season or so." — a bit like Gerrard did with the Redshite... for longer than he should.
In the Guardian, I read Arteta for £8 million! Hahahahaha!
Eventually that serious soap takes the path of Brookside in desperation. Hard-hitting at the start, with quotes, sources etc... then they get desperate...

Treat it all as a soap and you feel much better about it all. The Guardian rumour mill is quite a good antidote, gives the rumour fix while also telling you how bullshit it all is at the same time, especially when Barnay Ronay is the author.
Regarding the other mercenaries, such as Lescott, who want to move for gain even though they are under contract, then clubs should force them to stay unless they get stupid Citeh money, like they did for him. Looking back, it was almost like legalised theft, brilliant management.
NOTW reported on Citeh bidding for Pienaar. I really have no problem with him moving on for the big money and Everton surely have to sell if they get a good price.
Surely the point of an interpreter is to translate what is actually said, not for the interpreter to put a more 'correct' version in. I didn't see the interview in question, but if it is right that Beckenbauer said 'Everton' it would indicate that to this giant of world football, the word 'Everton' meant something different to 'Liverpool'. Otherwise he would have said 'Liverpool'.
This ''water off a duck's back'' and ''Jesus, some Evertonians are paranoid'' approach is all very well, but if we are not prepared to defend the historic standing of our club then why should anyone else (eg journalists, the BBC etc) be bothered?
Moyes delayed the signing of his last contract due to legal issues being sorted out - principally what his position entailed if there were to be new owners. To describe it as a 'sulk' is completely disrespectful and disingenuous.
