No Accounting For Rooney
Comments (33)
20 hours away from our game against England. I have come up with many scenarios good for the US. Except most require I pretend Wayne Rooney's not playing (That sawed-off SOB).
England have a bunch of good players for sure, but always do. Talented as they may be, nothing presents to make me feel afraid for the US. The way Mexico went tearing through the heart of England's defense? Friendly or not, I got a big lift watching.
Then I pictured Rooney laughing at me. A Rooney leading the 3 Lions. A Rooney the pride of England! What's the world coming to?

I would give my left nut to see the US win by a couple goals and bring those arrogant plugs back down to planet Earth. I have never seen a team get so over-hyped in my life in any sport.
According to oddschecker.com, England currently have better odds than Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Portugal. Is that a joke?! This is without Rio Ferdinand! I can understand wishful thinking but that is just ridiculous.
England are a good team but they're not "one of the best". They have a chance of winning but it is an outside chance. I hop the US and Algeria progress through the group stage and Steven Gerrard gives up a game deciding penalty that ends the world cup for them.
I love the country of England but I simply can not support a bunch of overpaid, over-hyped clowns. GO USA!!!!!
I will support my country despite the players who I dont like in it. I know if we reach the Quarters then you guys saying you don't care will start to care. I will aways support my country and although I put my club before country (anytime), I still want to see football coming home where it belongs.
COME ON ENGLAND!!!
Go USA... and Landon, please, crucify the annoying little bastard.
They've got one forward, no left winger, no right back capable of defending, slow and cumbersome centre halves, and no reliable goalkeeper to inspire confidence amongst his defenders. Oh, and now they've even got the despicable Jamie Carragher in the ranks and 'Stevie G la' as captain.
I don't care how much stick I take, I'll be rooting for USA today and I think they've got a pretty good chance as well.
Really looking forward to seeing how Yobo gets on against Messi & Tevez today as well,...or maybe not.

I do support my country, and I am proud to be English.
I just can't stand the England team set-up. They are managed by an Italian on £6M a year FFS! The fact that they choose the team from a clique of players every major tournament also really grates. Emile fucking Heskey, please give me a break. Carragher and Gerrard have stank Liverpool out all season. The English FA are a bunch of wankers and it's jobs for the boys. All the hype for this world cup makes me laugh, what a load of old bollox.
Ah well. We'll be gang-marking him and trying to get into England's back-line as often as possible.
Because it is my opinion (based on experience) that the rest of England sees you, me and every other scouser, as a work-shy, violent, thieving, track-suited scally.
A character from Bread.
Still if you're happy to align yourself to all those cunts who've spent years waving money at you and telling you to sign on, fill your boots.
Personally, this will be a great World Cup for me if all those pricks end up with their own tears dripping off their tatty bulldog tats.
(Oh and Stevie G's thigh-bone is turned to powder by a late Landon Donovan tackle that is completely missed by all the officials... and the telly!)
We once spent 100 years teaching France a lesson, went to war against our own monarch in the name of democarcy, had a great Empire, led the world, ruled the waves, single handedly held back the Nazis over the skies over Britain. Pulled together during the blitz and refused to surrender or be defeated.
Look at us now. Squabbling over whether or not to support England in a World Cup.
Had a couple of Everton players made the English squad, how different would this thread be I wonder?
Got free of her 'care-givers' apparently and nobody can find her.
She's officially a missing person and the authorities are 'extremely worried and concerned'.
Her son Mark said "she's very confused these days and even thinks her name is Dave Smith"
Brendan, I believe it's called The Faulklands... don't swear!!!
Would you still despise England if there where Everton players playing?
Wonder if Wayne Bridge'll cheering his nuts off for ex-bezz mate Terry
And, Eugene, spent last week in Essex winding up the natives - more red crosses than a red cross factory
"You fackin Scarsers aren't fackin English mite, all fackin micks and Welsh, the lot of yer -- fackin English we are darn ere mite, no fackin foreigners in my family, all fackin English, 16 facking generations"
Tom Costello, Southend-on-Sea pub landlord, June 2010
Even if Baines was in, England would still be an arrogant side led by such self-important "luminaries" as Gerrard, Carragher, Terry and co.
Phil Bellis' quote is exactly why I hate the England national side with a passion. The complete opposite of Everton in every single way.
Very proud to be an Englishman, but certainly not proud of that bunch of clowns representing us, led by an Italian clown.
I guess that got that right but only in respect of the "bling bling" they wear.
