Is there anybody old enough out there to back me up in a discussion I'm having?

December 6th, 1969 ... we're going to lose 3 - 0 to L'pool. I am certain Sandy Brown scores his own goal at the Park End, my mate says it's the Street End. Anyone willing and able to settle the argument beyond any doubt?

A stunning, brass plated vuvuzela to the provider of the most convincing answer!

PARK END; deffo... back in the day, we always attacked the Street End in the 2nd half so it must have been the Park End. Also I was in the Street End and it wasn't there QED... Dec 6th; a day that will go down in infamy, or – as Sandy (top bloke, true legend) might think – Infamy, infamy, they've all got it infamy.

Some already think I am a brass vulva so why would I want one?

Definitely the Park End, no church in the corner and the cameras were tracking the shite players attacking from left to right.

Park end; I was there. It made the BBC Goals of the Decade a couple of weeks later.

Mate, remember it like it was yesterday, he dived from the corner of the Park End penalty box and it rocketed into the opposite top corner. Still gutted.

Park End. I can still visualize it. It seemed like he headed it ten yards into his own goal.

Yes it was The Park End – my Dad and I couldn't get tickets, it was the only home match we missed that season. I watched the game later on Match of The Day. I was in the 2nd Year at Secondary school that year – but of course we did have the last laugh that season.

I have always felt very sorry for Sandy Brown – he always gets remembered when it comes to Derby matches for "that goal" – there is never any mention of the goal he scored in the Derby match of August 1966. Alan Ball had scored twice to put us 2-0 up, they got a goal back and then Sandy Brown, who was on as a substitute, clinched a 3-1 win with a header at the Gwladys Street End, I think it was. I am not sure if that game was on the TV, but I remember it as it was my first season ticket at Goodison – a present for my 9th birthday – the season ticket in the old main stand cost £8.40 I believe !!!

Sandy Brown was a great utility player, who after Ray Wilson left seemed at last to have established himself at left back — however, the signing of Keith Newton seemed to spell the end of his days as a regular. Newton was an international but at right back and in my opinion was never as good at left back – indeed I think Sandy was a better left back.

As everyone has stated, it was the Park End, but where was West for the cross? No wonder they called West "Dracula" (afraid of the cross). Brown was a great servant to Everton and it's a shame that the own goal is many a supporter's main memory of him.

Am I being stupid (don't answer that!) but does that mean that the tv cameras used to be situated in the Main Stand as opposed to the Bullens as they are now? As nowadays a goal scored in the right hand side of the tv screen is the Gwladys Street end isn't it?

The cameras were on the old main stand in those days. Among the many things wrong with the new main stand was the fact that they forgot to include a camera gantry.

Perhaps Harry Catterick was hoping to keep the cameras away permanently!

I also was there when Sandy's brilliant, unforgettable, unstoppable and totally unnecesary header flew into the Park End goal.

From what I remember, the cameras and commentators were set up hanging over the edge of the Main Stand in a central position on a really scary looking scaffolding framework with scabby wooden boards! Can you imagine the H&SE problems with that nowadays?
Living a few thou miles away, and not having been to the Old lady for many a year, what platform/set up do they use in the Bullens now?

Park End as others have said.

Does anyone remember Sandy Brown’s role in that game against Leeds when the ref took everyone off for a cooling off period? I’m pretty sure it was one of his punches which kicked off the trouble.
