I watched the last South Africa game and today's USA on t'internet with the 5 Live commentary option.
I'm bound to be biased but, even so, I was very impressed with David Moyes's insightful comments and all-round `nous'. It was so refreshing to hear some sense and relevancy from a `pundit'; he did us proud.
He predicted that if anyone was to score an equaliser for America it'll be Bradley and said there were two penalties as the ball came in for the disallowed `winner' (he also predicted a Rooney hat trick against Algeria - watch this space).
A nice sense of humour also; his co-commentator waffled on about the USA players sharing 2 to a room, so Landon gets a room to himself... "because he's their top player, I suppose, David?"
Back came Moyes: "Perhaps it's `cos he's got no pals!"

What did he have to say about Landon and Tim Howard?
He thought Landon was great yesterday, but he was a bit critical of TH on the Slovenian goals. He reckoned 'maybe he could have got down a bit quicker' for the second one.
He also reckons that Messi lad is good....
I'd be interested to hear what he's saying about his players as the tournament goes along.
By the way, that he's a hit as a commentator wouldn't surprise me at all. Sorry ESPN didn't sign him up. He'd have been a huge hit over here with soccer fans (American women too).
"He's a manager? What team? Everton? Where's that? Hey, he's the guy gave Donovan a chance and Howard's on? I have to look them up".
OK. Let me stop.
Among his comments re Blues... In the SA game he advised "Steven should be moved to the outside", which happened and in the USA game, 2nd goal conceded... "I think Tim could've stood up longer, there"
He also said the World Cup Blues had been given a month off and would report back late for pre-season. (No, Yak, that doesn't mean November!)
At least I still have Lalas and Guillet.
Oh, wait. Damn!
I think Moyes might be interested in Messi as cover for Arteta.

"During the early part of last season with Everton we could hardly buy a win," he recalled. "Sylvain Distin got injured, Phil Jagielka and Joe Yobo were already out and I had to move Johnny Heitinga back to play in central defence with Lucas Neill.
"I hadn't seen either as nailed-on first-choice centre-halves but they gelled, got us a couple of clean sheets and we nicked a win, and confidence built from there.
"The players are down and what they need from a coach at such times is composure, steadiness and an air of not panicking. More importantly, both are players who use the ball well and they would take possession at the back and roll passes into the midfield players.
"The midfielders grew in confidence because they were getting more of the ball and the forwards started to do better because their supply improved. Suddenly the whole team was benefiting."
So does this quote mean Moyes has seen the major benefits that playing on the deck all the way from defence bring? This year saw some really good football coming from the team, and I hope Moyes will be telling the players to keep it on the deck next season as well.
Just thought it would be interesting to hear some thoughts on this given the numerous debates on hoofball, whether it's any effective and whether thats the style Moyes wants to play.
