After watching the Slovakia vs Paraguay game with interest, I am still not sure what to make of our new recruit, goalkeeper Jan Mucha.
A few smart saves but his kicking looked very suspect. Took an age to deal with any backpasses and nearly had one taken off him. I would personally still like to see Ruddy come in as No 2 and play a few cup games but that looks unlikely now. Seems a shame to bring in players from other countries just as backups and limit the opportunities for a young English prospect.
Mucha just seems to be slightly younger version of Carlo Nash. Fine as backup but you wouldn't really want him to play! Whereas Ruddy has shown promise and proven himself north of the border.

Ruddy has done well in Scotland. Mucha is doing well in the World Cup.
That's a no-brainer for me. I trust in both Moyes's and Wood's judgements on Ruddy. They have had years to make it. Let's not forget that Ruddy is still young for a 'keeper though.
I thought he looked ok — nothing flash. I know that a forward got a toe to one of his clearances but generally I thought his kicking was good. Howard always looks nervous with back passes but Mucha seemed comfortable to get the ball at his feet and his distribution was good (better than most of the Everton back line, I should add). Not sure how much game time he'll get though.
Ruddy, if he sticks around, will turn into and be an excellent keeper.

I played goalie for years, so I kept my eye on Mucha, and I wouldn't put him in charge of a hair net, never mind a goal net! Young Ruddy should be given a bit of a run.
Seems fairly harsh to judge a goal keeper based on 2 games where they were the inferior team with a poor defence in front of him (mainly that red shite Squirtle). Just wait till he's in the Blue of Everton and can judge him after a run of games with some confidence.
I think it's hard to judge. I don't think he could have done anything for the three goals he conceded, which is the same number as Howard. Howard's best year was arguably when he had Wessels as cover because he was being pushed at training. Let's hope Mucha can do the same.
