Match Summary

Everton continued the pre-season preparations with a defeat at
Bloomfield Road this evening at the hands of Championship side
Blackpool, who looked raring to go for their new season that gets
underway on Saturday.

The Blues once again had Jack Rodwell standing in for Joleon Lescott
at centre half alongside Joseph Yobo and it was the two who contrived
to allow David Vaughan to sprint through the middle of defence with
the ball to put the home side into an early lead.

A Leighton Baines corner from the right caused all kinds of problems
for the Blackpool keeper under pressure from Marouane Fellaini and Jo
poked a shot home from 9 yards to equalise.

The game was fast paced and full of action for both sides, and
Blackpool spurned a few good chances to go back infront before Tony
Hibbert gifted Blackpool striker Jason Ewell a chance to run clear
and slot past Tim Howard to make it 2-1.

Both sides had their fair share of chances to add to the scoreline,
but despite a continued fast-paced game neither were able to
capitalise on some end-to-end play although Everton will be glad to
have been given a tough workout, even if they did lose, and you can
bet the Blues will be far better prepared for Arsenal come next weekend.
