Injuries and Fellaini

Comments (9)

Does anyone have any inside track on Fellaini's injury and when we might expect him back? Hope he gets some pre-season training in.

This website is usually pretty good for injury updates and see's him back for our first game: http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php

I have a feeling that our position in this injury table will be inversely linked to our position in the Premier League, so fingers crossed we'll be at the bottom, with no injuries.

Certainly if we can keep Jagielka, Fellaini, Arteta, Pienaar, Rodders and whoever proves to be our first choice striker fit for the majority of the season... that would be nice.

Haven't heard about Felliani, but as for injury news this site is the best I've seen...

Quite handy for your fantasy football picks too unsurprisingly, but best of all are the encouraging stories about both Rodwell and Beckford (plus a mention of Coleman) as potential F stars this season!

The Everton Internet TV commentators, when asked that question on Saturday vs Brisbane, both said he should be available for selection by the start of the season.

Yeah, I read somewhere that he's coming on leaps and bounds and could make a quicker recovery than expected and could even take part in the last couple of friendlies maybe, very good news!

He may be coming on in leaps and bounds, but give him a couple of months to regain match fitness and form. We won't really see him at his best till maybe November after a serious injury like that.

Remember that before we get the inevitable Yakubu-like rumours that "he's lost it," "we should get rid now," "the Bellamy side step was a flash in the pan" etc etc on here around about September time.

Last season he started with a viral infection, and up until November, he was shite. I've got a feeling that he will take some time to get match fit, but at least we've got ready replacements in Heitinga or Rodwell.

But from November till he got injured he was the best midfield player in the Premier League. Phil Neville's view ? which I agree with.

Not too concerned here. We have Arteta, Cahill, Osman and Rodwell who can all play central midfield effectively. Of course, I would love to have the big fella in form and in the squad come opening day. But, if he needs a couple more weeks to recover, I don't think it's an emergency.

He was actually named in the provisional squad for the Australia tour. Even though he obviously didn't make it onto the plane, he must've been recovering well to be considered a chance at the time.

We'd love to have him fit but this gives Moyes a bit of an out. Pick one of Neville, Heitinga, and Rodwell for that remaining central midfield spot. Then let the team evolve over the season when Fellaini is at full fitness.

I expect we would have started with Heitinga in midfield regardless. Personally I'd like to see him at centre back alongside Jags but time will tell.
