Louis injured again!

Looks like Louis Saha's injury curse has struck again. He came on for France as a sub in the 70th minute and went in for a pretty innocuous looking challenge 5 minutes later where he appeared to hurt his knee.

Having signalled to the bench that he should be withdrawn he was swiftly removed, his game not even lasting 10 minutes. He did come off unaided however and appeared to be more disappointed than anything else so let's hope for the best.

Looks like those leeches didn't help much. Incidentally Belarus are 1 up with less than 5 minutes to play.

Are we cursed?! Everyone knew we needed to strengthen in the transfer window and now this. Anyone got any leeches going spare?

That we rely on this moody individual amazes me. He scores a goal (now and then) and thinks thats it "job done" -refer FA CUP Final.

Another on here commented about his attitude since signing a contract.

I work hard at my day job and wonder whether this individual does also?

Finally, even then, we see a glimpse of class (undeniably) what more does he contribute .

Shame about the injury, he looked alot better against Villa.

Wenger said that Saha is as good as any striker when he plays 10 games in a row. Seems like he gets to 9 then collapses.

Moyes has played the transfer window all wrong though. Like I said in the Pienaar discussion, if we sold Yak for 6mil, Yobo for a couple more, we would be sitting on at least 9mil. They then would have had the money to decide what they are going to do with Piennar.
BK or Moyes might have been able to get or edge a few more for the likes of a Remy or LD.

Ronan I dont think Saha has ever played 9 games in a row for us; usually the old balsa man breaks down after two or three in a row and we dont see him for a few more weeks.

If the stories were true at the time, it's a shame we didn't take the reported £8m from that Turkish club a year back?

If the Turkish offer was true then yes we should have snapped their hand off. He's fragile enough as it is and as he gets older his recovery time and healing process is going to be prolonged. With Vaughan and Anichebe, we must have the most injury-prone strike force in the country.

Oliver, if we took the £8M then we would be stuffed. Yakubu playing as 1st choice striker?

If we did take it, what strikers would be available to buy?

When you ask yourself who would you rather have ? Yak or Saha? The answer is Saha. A sold Yak = Remy? LD? Crouch? (Pienaar 5-year deal?)

Sorry Oliver, I meant what strikers with top quality would we get for 8mil who were transferable at the time? Any names? And could we waste Yakubu as 1st choice before we bought one.

He can be an annoying so-and-so with his sometimes lazy and laid-back attitude, and I agree it's frustrating to note how he plays 2 or 3 games and then disappears on the sick for a month or so. I just hope the Yak gets fit and fired up and we see a lot more from him. And as for Anichebe... another one who can't seem to shake off niggles (the assault and battery at Newcastle excepted). Would like to see the Portugese geezer given a go.

Hey Ronan, I'm not sure to be honest who was available at that time, but as a manager maybe Moyes would have taken a look around and decided that for £8M there was no-one our there as good as what he had ? Saha. At least this is what you would think is part of managing a football team.

It all boils down to decisions & opinions from the the likes of medical staff at the club (why did Mick Rathbone get the sack?) and obviously money with us anyway. My opinion is that £8M was a huge offer for Saha.

We should have cashed in on him last year when we had the chance. Ok, every now and then, he'll score some good goals but he disrupts the team because we're never going to have a settled starting 11 with him around and I think that's affected us over the past year or so.

How much is he on a week and has he scored a league goal since he signed this big fat contract? I don't think he has but it's ok because he's still our number one striker, could you imagine the Yak still being given a chance if he was going through such a barren run in front of goal?

Moyes persists with Saha and Beckford even though they obviously aren't doing the business when we have other strikers like Yakubu and Vaughan who never get the chance to start upfront on their own. Yakubu's confidence must be shattered to pieces to see them continually play ahead of him.

It's grimly ironic that Louis Saha tweaked his knee last night playing for France, after Saha talked about his new favorite treatment for his aching knee.

There's normally a large gap in the team whether Saha is here or not, he's injured that often.
