FA Cup 4th Round

It's Chelsea at home in the cup and with the 4-4-2 formation going well, Chelsea's woes piling up, this is a game Everton can win... perhaps revenge for the Cup Final defeat. Bring it on!

Surely we are due to beat this lot in a cup competition? Since I've followed the club we've lost 7 successive cup ties against them, the first one being in the 85/86 Milk Cup. And who could forget Tony Cottee missing a last minute penalty at Stamford Bridge live on TV while we were 1-0 down in 1992.
Although they twatted hapless Ipswich yesterday there's unrest in their camp so hopefully we can take advantage and get revenge on these beauts.
It would only be revenge if it was in the final, it's meaningless in one of the rounds, except that we progress.
My initial reaction was "aaargh not Chelsea... why couldn't we have got an easy draw."
But then it occurred to me that their fans were probably thinking something similar. We can win this, and then with one of the favourites eliminated, our run to Wembley will be that little bit easier.
Our run to Wembley is never easy. When did we last get a non Prem club after the 3rd round?
I'm with you Jimmy - if we got to the semis / final we'd probably end up getting this lot anyway so lets not mess around, get them early doors at home rather than a neutral venue and also whilst they are evidently unsettled.
I'm confident we'll give them a bloody good game and with the rub of the green get a result. Need to beat them first time round in normal time though as cant see us doing them at Stamford Bridge or on pens.
I predict a heroic performance and probably a memorable result to boot though.
COYB!
It does not matter who you draw in the FA Cup, if your name is on it then you will beat any team put up against you. Look at the teams we have gone out against over the years, Shrewsbury anyone?
I bet Newcastle thought they would have a good run this year, but they are already out against a third tier team.
When we got to win it last time we didnt have easy draws, but our name was on it.
Ste, I remember being at Chelsea ages ago in the horrible open-terraced away end they used to have before they became moneyed, adn we had a pen, just as our player was about to take it, that scummy Dennis Wise walks over to the penalty taker and whispers something in his ear to put him off, which tactic duly worked. The ref just ushered him away, no card or anything. Was that the Tony Cottee occasion you recalled in response No 1??
If we can beat Chelsea at home then that is potentially the hardest tie out of the way. There are so many Championship and lower league clubs still in this and only Man Utd and Man City or Spurs would probably be a realistic threat to us. I can actually see Fulham beating Spurs at home as well as Leeds beating Arsenal in their replay. So hopefully there will be a Manchester derby in Round 5.
Wishful thinking I know but if we beat Chelsea in this competition we will feel like we can beat anyone else. Thankfully we are at home; it's pretty much tie of the round and therefore will surely be selected for TV. But I hope it's a full house and the 12th man is there to roar Everton on to victory.
Knowing our luck we will get passed Chelski only to get beat on pens to Burton....
We beat a title winning Chelsea last season. This season they are not the same side. They haven't won a league match in 8 attempts FFS!!
We will hopefully be moved to a 5:15 kick - off, I would fancy us against Barca at Goodison under lights. They have not beaten us for ages either, they will have groaned as much as us when the draw was made.
Chris, that's the occasion your thinking of when Wise put Cottee off back in January 1992. To this day i don't know why Beardsley didn't take that penalty, particualry with Cottee's awful record from the penalty spot during his Everton career. I'd have backed Beardsley everytime.
I agree with most of the above, if we want to win the trophy we might as well get Chelsea out the way.
I'd be way more upset to draw them in the semis.
Oh and Larry Boner (#6) if that is your real name, surely Stevenage are a fourth tier team, being in League Two?
Michael Upton, ignoring your ignorant remark, yes of course Stevenage are a 2nd Div team, meaning they are a 4th tier team, which proves my point even more.
