A Plan B

By Jay   Harris  ::  19/07/2011   41 Comments (»Last) With no sign of Billy Boy relinquishing the reins at Goodison Park and most possible buyers of the club already put off for whatever reason, there is still a dire need for an injection of cash.

The easiest and most instant way apart from directors putting their hands in their pockets (never going to happen) or players sales (which IMO should be Plan Z) is to have a rights issue.

Some posters, including myself, have already put this idea forward but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears within the boardroom. However, with the increasing pressure on the board and the club, this may now be a potential goer.

For those Blues who do not know, what this means it is simply the club issuing more shares for sale which does dilute the existing percentage of shareholders holding but increases the overall value of the club because of the improved balance sheet value in ? other words 20% of £100 miilion is worth the same as 17.4% of £115 million.

Now the big question for the club and fellow posters is: What would we do with an assumed £15 million injection of cash.

Would you:

1. Improve the palying squad with much needed quality and depth thereby improving (hopefully) our league position and therefore Sky cash etc?

2. Put an extra tier on the Park End with improved Corporate facilities, thereby improving our matchday income?

3. Pay off some of our debts, thereby reducing the massive interest mountain created by the board's reluctance to put any of their own money in?

Any other creative ideas?
