Bolshevik Stratagems Required

By Dominic   Bobadilla  ::  20/08/2011   28 Comments (»Last) What we bore witness to at Goodison Park today was no lightening from a clear sky: we all saw it coming. The games against Villarreal and Werder Bremen drove home some painful points as to what we are to expect when we are up against competent opposition. And when a newly promoted team can come to Goodison and read us like an open book, we have every reason to be alarmed.

Let's face it: even the players have lost their faith in their superiors. With the noble exception of Barkley and Baines, none of our players were willing to do the necessary running. For the rest, it was merely a stroll in the park. As I read the situation, Moyes is no longer in total control of things. Today was the day when we were gonna prove our critics wrong. Moyes knew what was expected, but he failed miserably.

Over the years, I have learnt a thing or two from Lenin, that master of political strategy. If you wish to overthrow a regime, you need to win the hearts and minds of the soldiers of that regime. The Everton players are the soldiers. Instead of addressing our misgivings to Kenwright and his sycophants, we must find a way of reaching out directly to the players.

This should not be an impossible task in the age of the internet. Twitter and Facebook are tools that are being utilised by the CIA with a view to destabilising regimes all over the world. It is time now for the Evertonians to take recourse to the same tactics. Communicate your anger directly to the players. Several of them are on Twitter. Begin following them. Make it clear to them that you love Everton and those who play for this club; you are merely opposed to their superiors. If we could persuade the players to turn against their superiors, there is no way the Kenwright-Moyes regime could survive.

ANNEX: To the lads of the Blue Union, I have the following to say: your decision to tape the exchange with Kenwright may be ethically questionable, but you did it out of love for Everton. To paraphrase St Paul, if you act out of love, you are not bound by the law.
