It's Kenwright who needs to go

By Jay   Harris  ::  12/12/2011   38 Comments (»Last) It is very difficult to understand what is going on behind the scenes at Everton.

I had always maintained until the end of last season that Moyes was covering the cracks in the boardroom by "punching above our weight" on the pitch and that we should all get behind Moyes and the players.

In the last 2 years, we have bought nobody of any significance and sold (or allowed to leave) a significant number of what was already a small squad.

With the unsurprising revelations from Blue Union earlier this year, we found that the bank is virtually running the club and yet we have unexplained operating costs of £23 million a year up, from £1 million a year when Kenwright first took over.

What was surprising in the accounts is that we are still paying significant amounts for player purchases.

Following various soundbites from Moyes that "playing the youth players up front is a route we may have to follow" and asking Thierry Henry if he fancied the odd game for us, it appears to me that the banks may have put a moratorium on us buying new players.

That may be why he is reluctant to cash in on Bily because, despite assurances from Billy liar, he may not be given ANY funds to bring players in.

There is far more to his sour face and "odd" comments than we know and a lot of us already think it's a dire situation.

I think David Moyes is beyond redemption but I still can't believe that Bill Kenwright is getting away with what he is doing to our club. Do we have to go into administration or get relegated before the fans react?

Staying away from the games is not having any effect except to accelerate one of those scenarios which will be difficult to recover from.

We need a "Johnson" type effort from the supporters to remove this "I am constantly talking to investors" and "There is no better person to run EFC than me" charlatan of a man.

In the meantime, I would implore supporters not to turn on David Moyes because IMHO that will certainly result in relegation and not recognition of a manager who has had almost zero net spend over his tenure and yet gave us back some pride from the dark days of Walter.

He deserves to go with dignity; Bill Kenwright doesn't.
