£5 Million against £50 Thousand?

By Mick   Wrende  ::  08/01/2012   63 Comments (»Last) I am an Everton season ticket holder living in Macclesfield, so in three days I have seen both my teams take on Bolton. At Goodison I saw a boring, passionless, slow passing game from Everton, often culminating in a big hoof into a strong wind.

Yesterday at the Moss Rose I watched a lowly division two side attack Bolton with pace and enthusiasm down both flanks and through the centre. Macclesfield scored two magnificent goals and came so close to a great victory. The same Hungarian keeper who had so little to do at Everton made a string of brilliant saves.

Macclesfield chased them to the final whistle and showed Bolton to be the poor Premeir League side that they are.

Now I know the two games are not truly comparable and the cup is different to the league but why where the tactics by the two managers so different? Why did the 'manager who has done such a wonderful job' get his tactics so wrong and an unknown guy from league two on a tenth of the salary, get them spot on?

I know Moyes has his problems with finances etc but my main grouse with him is that every game we know we will see the same boring dross, from over paid and over hyped players. There are no surprises any more at Goodison just a dreadful 'we shall not lose' approach from a manager whose sole aim is not to concede and hope we can grab one.

Well yesterday, Macclesfield showed that it doesnt have to be like this ? we don't have to put up with this rubbish every match. They are the paupers of division two but can still set themselves up in an attacking way.

I know the main problem at Everton is the chairman and whilst he is there Moyes's job is safe. But I long to see us play some exciting football, would love to really look forward to watching us each week.

To do that we need a change, we need a younger manager with a desire to make us great again, who can instill an enthusiasm into the players and who can really get the crowd behind the club again.

The past three days have shown we should not put up with the current dross.

All I am really saying is ? It doesn't have to be like this!
