So Twitter is a social networking site & everyone is entitled to use it just as this.... BUT...

I've seen some shameless abuse by our our own & other Premier League players of this network for nothing more than advertising & the lining of their own pockets. FIFA 2012 (Actually I want a kick back for this mention) talk is virtually pillaging Twitter right now!

So players think they have "X" amount of followers because they look cool or have an astute & intelligent outlook on life.... Errr. No it's because fans that pay their wages are interested in their feelings on the latest game or genuine comments on real life. Not something that gives them more £s for image rights & probably performances that surpass their own "real" ones.

Instead of stuff that reads like "Nice pic on the FIFA cover, can't put the game down, everyone should buy it now" ... I would expect something like "Rubbish day at work, feel a bit demoralised... Onwards & upwards"... No sorry that's me! Maybe... "Room for improvement, let's see what we can do to make up for it next week. COYB"

To counter your post you have to keep in mind that most of these footballers you are following are still young guys...

Lots of young guys play video games..most young guys into football would list FIFA as one of their favourite games.

Some may be trying to get some more money but I'm sure there are plenty who are actually happy about getting their hands on the game and playing as themselvs. I know I would be.

Simple answer...dont follow them!

I also doubt that TC is getting a percentage of every game sold coz he's on cover.

Yes some of it is crap, but surely we're all guilty of that BUT you have the likes of Saha, Neville, Cahill and Heitinga doing Q&A's for all and sundry - they are engaging us fans and you're having a go at them (hell I'm 41 and I can't wait for my FIFA12 to arrive on Friday !)

The abuse they get must be unbelievable, from opposition fans to even their own after a bad result. Kevin Davies gave it a go but stopped after all the grief, we should implore our team for engaging with us. That said players saying they're out injured before the team news is announced is nuts (Johnny H looking at you there).

However, IMO all teams should have a matchday Twitter embargo - similar to what QPR have done with Joey Barton.
