Season 2011-12
The Mail Bag
Where is the cavalry?
The transfer window has been open almost a week now and there is no sign of reinforcements (Donovan apart) despite assurances by Kenwright and Elstone that funds are available and the "Arteta" money would not go to the banks.
With league places being worth almost a million a place and diminishing attendances estimated to be costing 5 million a year it is surely the time for further investment in the squad.
We appear to be making little progress and with Moyes statements like "we may have to look at the loan market" and "we don't have much if any money to spend on players" it is not what we want to hear.
Certain fans are predicting a doomsday scenario despite reassurances from Doddy that "all is well under Bill and Ben".
I am not quite at that point yet but am very concerned that having let Arteta, Yak and Beckford go and with the sale of Vaughan, Pienaar and Bellefield yielding around 25 million we do not appear to have anybody lined up.
Now I know some will come on here stating the window isn't shut yet but with our desperate needs you would have thought that we would have players lined up as soon as the window opens.
One other question I have which is particularly poignant given Jags' injury is what has happened to Joseph Yobo?
Are we still paying his wages or did we cancel his contract by mutual agreement?
No news on this from the Kremlin!

What on earth are they waiting for?
Have they not been laying groundwork to spend the Arteta money In January or are they niaive to believe that a second coming of Donovan will improve this squad. No way!
Coleman can do the work of Donovan but you just know Osman won't be left out.
We don't want no-names from obscure leagues in Europe and South America nor do we want 16 year-old wonder kids who will never get a chance anyway.
Offensively we are a mess with nobody able to strike any fear into opposing defences these days except Howard!
Okay that's unfair but you get my point.
Moyes must regret letting Yaks and Becks go and no-one can argue they are goalscorers. Tomorrow Moyes will play some of the benchwarmers as the result is of lttle consequence. We have no chance of winning the cup with this motley crew.

Dodd's words and assessments are always absolutely spot on and so all we need to do now is sit back and wait for the new additions who will reshape and remake Everton's season. Hold your breath everyone.

Our flow of credit is so limited that a £5m outlay is more neglectful to the club than Leeds Utd's entire outlay in the early 2000s.
You can strike lucky with a loan like Drenthe and if one comes in with equal quality then we have done well. If not it will be a punt on a kid.

Is there a more rational a reason Anichebe was signed on contract for only £20k a week?
That's our front two this time next year that is.
When the banks call time this is the team...
Mucha
Hibbert Duffy Distin Neville
Coleman McFadden Osman Gueye
Strac Anichebe
That's relatively affordable!

My advice to all those who still support Moyes is.....go to the games! I was at the Cottage when we nicked it and that was an embarassment.
I hate that I love this club.

Nick at 9
Stracq was a punt in the same vein as Beckford or whoever we sign as a striker this January because going for broke is Moyes's only option with the cash at his disposal.
We are now officially a selling club, I've said it before and I'll say it again, whatever Moyes says.
We've run out of assets and his band of brothers have run out of time and legs.
Moyes has been hanging on to his squad knowing that he cannot replace them but he's held on too long and now they are worthless.
He must be praying someone desperate comes in for Rodwell (let it be City) in January.
If anyone's stupid enough to come in for any of Cahill, Neville or Saha, he will bite their arm off if he's got any sense because, by the end if the season, he won't be able to give 'em away.

When Jags, Osman, Fellainii, Rodwell, Coleman and Drenthe recover, they will be like new signings

You would be as foolish as Doddy if you really did.
As for the last minute player out of the door (because he put in a transfer request of course) my money's on Baines.

Jay - how do you reach £5m? I'm not arguing there'll be some serious money lost, but 5k x £30 x 19 is £2.85m so I think a slight overestimation there (unless you're calculating against 40,000 - which would be unfair as our average attendance last year was in the 35k region)
I predict 1 or 2 on loan at best, we prob won't have heard of them. Don't think we'll lose anyone this time, though am worried if someone comes in for Baines. Anyone believing there is money to spend is, IMO, overly optimistic.

As for Yak is attitude can be contemptible. Let's see his performance at B'burn when another club shows an interest in signing him.
We're fucked and the pied piper of the boys pen still has a significant proportion of the fanbase following him. Only relegation can save us from Bk now - as terrible it sounds.

What rubbish, there?s no money and all old billy bullshit cares about is staying in charge at all costs of our once great club.
Richard, I?ll have a bet with you that the club will still be in the same dire state it is in now this time next year and that old bb and his gang of fools will still be spreading the same old lies. How?s a season ticket sound to you?

As for gavram....the demise of this club? We are 11th in the premier league. Drama queen.

A loss of £14 million in a year if we hadn't sold Bellefield. What have we now got left to sell besides players?
£18 million in player sales in the last year £0.00p in player purchases in the last 2+ years.
£22 million in assets 10 years ago, minus £35 million now.
No investment in the stadium or revenue generating infrastructure, in fact the exact opposite with selling off of the catering and merchandising.
Demise? What demise?

Maybe you're right maybe you're wrong.
In the here and now we are a midlevel premiership team with the sort of financial problems being experienced by alot of football teams. Perhaps we are on the road to demise (no-one can be sure) but we are not there yet whatever the pessimists/drama queens say.

If the money could be used wisely then Rodwell and Felliani would be gone and more attack minded players brought in. Defensive midfielders can be replaced quite easily with all kinds of crap doing the job throughout the Premier League but players with skill who can beat a man play a killer pass or put the ball in the net are much harder to find. The combined fees that Rodwell and Felliani would bring in should be more than enough to bring in three attacking creative players.

They are paying his wages and probably a small sum to loan him as well. We can´t recall him if the conditions are the same as his previous loan deal.
And anyway, Yobo has definetely burned his bridges this summer ,once and for all.
