Smallest Squad in the Prem

 10 Comments: First  |  Last

I was bemused to catch a comment at the weekend that Arsene Wenger has used 32 different players this season. Makes you wonder about all that blather regarding 25 max in the squad, eight who have to be homegrown etc... is anyone checking?

More to the point, though, what about the club that is widely acknowledged to have the smallest squad in the Premier League...??? Yes, Everton?

How does it compare with Wenger's 32? How many players has David Moyes used this season?

Moyes has used 30 players this season in the league. 4 of those haven't started a game... Jelavic, Baxter, McFadden and McAleny and 4 of those 30 have since left...Beckford, Arteta, Bily and Saha.

Paul, I'm sure that homegrown players under the age of 20/21 don't need to be registered as part of the 25. Isn't it partly to stop the likes of Man City and Chelsea having huge squads full of foreign internationals?

No disrespect Paul, but everything you ask there is readily available via a quick online search, without someone having to spoon feed you the answers.

Do enlighten us, Noel.

I count 32 players who have participated this season. Hardly the smallest squad in the Prem, is it? But I can't find any online source to confirm that.

Michael,

His questions were:

"More to the point, though, what about the club that is widely acknowledged to have the smallest squad in the Premier League...??? Yes, Everton?

How does it compare with Wenger's 32? How many players has David Moyes used this season?"

Evertonfc.com, Wikipedia, any match programme and your own site show what players were used in what games. Assuming he can count, then it's not difficult to compare with Arsenal's 32.

If you are asking whether our squad is the smallest, then that's another (different) question to what he asked.

Paul, I think we've used 19. N-n-n-n-n 19. Sorry. Couldn't resist!
