Chant for Jelavic

 16 Comments: First  |  Last

Now our new star striker is off the mark and, judging by how he is starting to play Saturday was the first of many, I think we need a chant.

Upon mentioning it to my wife, (who is not known for her patience with my beloved Blues) quick as a flash she sang out "We all love Jelavic the goal machine" to the tune of Yellow submarine by the beatles.

I couldn't beleive it and love it now, what are you're thoughts, my wife would go crazy happy to hear it at Goodison!

I thought it'd be funny if that youtube video of the dancing banana singing Peanut butter Jelly Time was implemented. Maybe... Pienaar and Jelly Time?? It'd be comical if nothing else....

The 60's Donovan song "Mellow Yellow" could be

They call the fella Jela - (shout) That's right
They call the fella Jela ...

and so on.

Simple. A chant, not a song.

They're creepy and they're kooky,
Mysterious and spooky,
They're all together ooky,
They're Straq and Jelavic.

Very good Mike Green. My favourite so far. If only we played 2 strikers!

We got money issues and you feel bad for us son,
We got 99 problems, Jelavic ain't one!

The original one I heard for him to the tune of the Yellow Brick Road was

Follow the Jelavic Road, maybe that should be

Follow the Jelavic Goals

Personally I think we're all just over-excited at buying a striker after such a long absence in the transfer market!! COYB

Love the yellow submarine chant! Fits perfectly!

I have a strange feeling about tonight.... the last time I felt this calm before a Anfield Derby was when Kanchelskis twatted them!!! Agree with Paul Jamieson, we are all excited about having brought a proper striker finally and even more so after that finish vs Spurs. Imagine if that had of been Saha for us, it would've been one of those dragged shots that you could tell was going wide before he touched it!! I was so happy when he signed I brought his shirt before he even played a game for us!!!

Joey, peanut butter jelly time is a great shout. Be funny as fuck if you got the street end and park end echoing each other.

This is one of those moments where I hope the kopites aren't looking over this site. Great ideas but this stuff is supposed to be chanted, not typed... I do, however, have to admit that "Pienaar, Baines and Jelly" time is brilliant... as is 99 problems...

Not a chant but an observation......
Whilst at the game on Saturday, I was amazed at how similar Jelavic & Kanchelskis are (pace apart). Similar build, same toe turned-in running style, similar mullet style hair. If he's half as good as Andrei, he'll do for me!!

Ian - If we could add Kanchelskis circa 95 - 96 to this side I reckon we'd scrape a Champions League place.

Pace, directness, goals. Everything we need. Him and Drenthe playing behind Jelavic, Felli, Rodwell and Gibson (with Barkley as a sub), Baines, Heitinga, Distin and (pick your right back).

That would be ace. Gutted you've mentioned it now!
