Nine interested parties?

 56 Comments: First  |  Last

I caught part of Bill Kenwright on Radio City yesterday being interviewed and claiming that there are currently nine parties who have all signed non-disclosure agreements after showing interest in buying Everton.

I think the interview was simultaneous to several journalists not just exclusive to Radio City. I did not catch the entire interview but I didn't hear and therefore couldn't understand why any reasonably intelligent interviewer failed to ask the most obvious question ? if you are keen to sell, what is the price?

Andy,
as soon as they find out the conditions of a sale there will be nine green bottles falling from the wall

It is over 12 months since Kenwright told us there were 4 interested parties.

That was just before season ticket renewal as well.

There's nothing left for current ownership. They have to sell. All Moyes gets off-season is "Who to sell to keep the bailiffs away"? Why would he stay?

Saying that, keeping Moyes would have to be the main selling point for prospective owners. He's done more with less than any manager in the league.

I think our main problem is potential buyers looking at EFC's current financial situation. Better for them opting to wait in anticipation of us selling players to meet the bills, further weakening the squad.

Then simply waiting for us to head towards relegation and the bargain price for one of the top clubs in the EPL and so the world.

This sucks.

Kenwright OUT!!!

Michael,

Clearly, in that thread, the poster citing the BU's 'club sources' states that he has said more than they agreed would be said. How can you have an official statement on something that is being kept under wraps??!.

Come off it. Unless that contributor is a real Mitty there is a statement there that says the BU believed the club was under scrutiny by a viable American interest.

You can split hairs over the number of interested parties if you like, but, the basic point remains. The BU are lending credibility to what the idiot chairman is saying.

Not sure what your point is, do you support BK and Co?

I want a complete change of regime at Everton - BK, Earl etc AND Moyes down the road.

This puts me at odds with the BU, ie, I'm "not toeing the line".

But until I get off my fat arse and do something, they get my support because they are Evertonians having a go ? something sadly lacking at Everton.

Really don't get this gleeful little sniping at ordinary Evertonians trying their best.

The fact that these statements from BK come out at season ticket time or when the BU start to put the heat on him by revealing his lies/staging a demo, just goes to show that: a) he knows his game is up and is clinging on as best he can; and b) the Blue Union's campaign is gaining ground.

What I can't understand is why, after yet more fantasy following untruth from BK, so many Evertonians are willing to back him. I just don't get it.

Blue Unions "club sources". No forgive me if Im wrong but didn't it royally kick off between the club and BU after their interview with Kenwright earlier in the season.

Do you really think the BU have credible sources within the club after the aftermath of that??? The BU havent made a comment about these American investors that they have been told about by the club.

Do you not think for just one second that the club could be leading the BU on here??? Just like they try and do with the fans!!

It looks like some have missed Steve's point here.

Robbie came on, who is a BU member, and intimated the main reason the protest didn't go ahead was because the club was at a delicate point in negotiations with an American firm/buyer.

Steve is suggesting that it's possible the BU have been fed a line by the club yet again?

I take your point Stephen but at the moment all we can go on is what was officially released in the blue union statement regarding the cancelled protest which gave no mention to any proposed development with regards to advancing the sale of the Club. The rest in my opinion is therefore hearsay, rumour and conjecture. I do not blame blue union in any shape or form, in fact I actively support their aims and objectives and have attended both marches and been at 2 meetings which they have called. We have been down the garden path of false-dawns in terms of investment that I take the whole issue these days with a huge pinch of salt.

Peter,

Nor do I. I actively support them and bought into what they are trying to achieve.

After hearing Robbie's reason's I could understand the reason's for cancelling, though still didn't agree.

If I were a prospective buyer seeing fan unrest aimed fairly and squarely at the current board would IMO make a deal more likely to happen.

After so many lies, untruths and innuendo's from the board it's hard to see how they haven't played the BU lad's like a fiddle as they always do with the fans. I suppose only time will tell.

I don't think the BU would put off a protest because of alleged interest in the Club. Marching in the Streets didn't exactly put the RS's new owners off did it? If they did fall for Club spin, I doubt they will again!

I said elsewhere that I thought the reasons the BU had actually stated were a fair call. Can you imagine the reaction if they had gone ahead given the fiasco on Tuesday night?......a golden opportunity for Moyes and BK to pass the buck which thankfully they didn't get. If at the end of this week we are still mid-table (obviously now) AND lose to Sunderland (God forbid), there will be only one place to look and blame... the Dugout.

You have to hand it to our local journo's, they must be the most docile bunch ever to go to print. The national media aren't interested in any business dealings at the club.

Elstone was quoted in November gone, that they were in "genuine talks" ? Where are the updates?

Now soft shite (BK) has told anyone who will listen, "no-one is buying football clubs" ? then they are talking to nine parties.

Then we have the old £500m chestnut: new ground ? £300m, £150m for the club, £50m on players, blah fucking blah.

Is no-one with access to these people ever going to ask the right questions, or call them out over the lies?

Whether or not the nine interested parties is true or not I can't understand why none of those interviewing him asked for an indication of the price being sought. Given that he would probaly refuse to answer it any competent interviewer would then surely question him around if he was asking more than he paid in 1999 and if so what are the reasons for that.

The difference is, though, that Rangers are a national treasure and institution in Scotland, with support drawn from all over the country and from Scots overseas. They have a modern stadium and regularly qualify for the Champions League or, at least, Europa League. I know that they usually have only Celtic to beat at home but they get 50,000+ gates even when they're playing Inverness or St Johnstone.

Compare that with our situation - need for new stadium, seldom qualify for Europa League, never mind Champions League, ground seldom full even for big matches, scarcely any following beyond Merseyside - you get the picture? I do agree, though, that failure to receive even one serious offer to buy the club over the past ten years is astonishing and it would be interesting to know why so many "expressions of interest" have led nowhere.
