It would be much better if you could send a link to where you got this, Dick... And perhaps explain the point?

Looks to be quite old too. Pompey and West Ham are on there. Pompey haven't even got a tea lady.

You think Hull, Pompey and WHU are EPL clubs shane?

Didn't Hull go down over two seasons ago?

There's one from the 80's where our wages are quite relatively high as well...says something about England though; even on those figures, we are the tenth highest prem team, despite being the 26th highest in the world...

Dick,

1. How recent are these figures
2. Do they take into account the entire squad numbers e.g. do these averages include all 'kids' signed on professional cottracts, or just the 'top 15 best paid players; for example?
3. I'm assuming the figures are in U.S. dollars, and not them silly AUS dollars ;)

I think you can take the Rangers figure with a pinch of salt! Although this table wouldn't take account of under-the-counter payments would it?

Given Portsmouth's inclusion it must be at least 3 years old?

Is this a comprehensive list? Or just a sample? Not one French club mentioned as far as I can see.

Three (?) years ago we seem to have been just outside of the top 3rd of EPL wage payers. I find that surprising given our poverty.

Or are you on about summat else.

Silly me if you are!

Didn't see Benfica, Marseille or Apoel in that list..... all CL quarter finalists, surely this list is heresy.

I thought football was all about money, full stop, close book end of story.

"who are those guys?"

You're right Barry, god knows why the semis were made up by 1,2,3 and 6 on the list.

Anyway, back to the Premiership, I see the billionaires are at the top again... and with Chelsea's revival the top four will probably look to be same again come the end of season.

So a great season by one of 'the rest' is only as good as a really bad one from those with the money.

Any ideas?

Total wage bill would help more as well rather than average per person, as we might be elevated in the list due to having a smaller squad than many of the other teams.

Barry, football may not be ALL about money, but only an idiot would think it doesn't make a massive, massive difference.

Obviously these figures are from 2009/10, cos that is what it says at the top of the page. And we are 11th in the list not 10th. On the new list we are 9th, so neither our wages nor our spending are top 8, yet our finishes are. Interesting.
