Pointless Polls

 23 Comments: First  |  Last

No, not ex-referee Graham.

Why, oh, why, oh, why must ToffeeWeb, after a hiatus of frig-knows-how-long, re-introduce the pointless polls?

The latest one being minimum fee for Baines?

I of course voted, for the lowest value, in protest.

If you're going to do it, do it properly. Options should include:

- payment over 12 years
- dependent on Man City not winning more trophies
- including some has been / yet to be player in the future they want off their books

'Sake Toffeeweb. You'll be starting a pets in colours corner next.

Hahah, sorry, Matt. We're very definitely in summer mode now which means pointless polls!

Clearly, some are more pointless than others. I was going to ask whether fans would prefer to sell Baines or Fellaini this summer if the club had to. Maybe that would have been a better one... maybe that'll be next, just for you! :)

As we crawl through the slow close season, these polls at least provide something of interest, however inconsequential!

Matt, it's too early for transfers, way, way to early for Everton, So, we have inconsequential shit or fucking tennis, or the olympic torch or something.

Do you think Matt..

1) Is right

2) Is wrong

3) Should accept that, as it's summer and there's fuck-all going on, it's either polls, transfer bollocks or "I don't know what it is, but I feel if we could pick up a couple of decent signings, we could really..."

It's a bit sad that were having a poll to decide how much we should sell our best players for. Surely there's something else we can vote on.

Michael/Lyndon

Have you considered opening the debate up a bit with the Euro's being on and Everton doing fuck all until 31.08?

Can we really have a pets in colours corner?

I personally like the polls. Lots of people spout their options on here without anyone ever really knowing what is the majority. I would personally like to see a thumbs up thumbs down option on every comment too.

Yep, silly season is with, but having said that, what WOULD you like a poll on? What question would you want to see an answer in the polls?

Lyndon - if Matt stated that he voted for the lowest, how come the 6 million UK pounds percentage is still on zero?
Are you fixing the results? :)

Gerry, maybe because 1 votes doesn't equate to 1%.?

Heheh, I was going to say what Shaun said — must be under 0.5% of the votes.

I'm scrupulous with the validity of these polls, no matter how inane the question :)

Polls are fine.
I would like a poll with the question: Do you think we will get back into europe with David Moyes as manager?

1. Carry on boozing while watching England v Norway.
2. Carry on boozing while fucking about on the net and watching England v Norway.
3. Carry on boozing and go to bed really really late.
4. Carry on boozing.

My poll question would be:

How will we get rid of Kenwright and co.

1. Relegation causes long overdue rebellion

2. Moyes finally gets tapped up and we employ a Mcleish/Mcarthy idiot taking us to option 1.

3. Someone offers what he wants and buys the club (I do weddings as well)

Polls can be good fun and some times be informative. This one is very poor, and as shown above, demonstrates a lack of creativive thinking from the writers.

To try and follow a thread that Toffeweb has already reported as redundant (see Phil McNulty BBC tweet) is pathetic. To try to add fuel to the speculation is just wrong.

COTW you can do better than this.

I like polls too...for the same reasons as James.. way of collating opinion on a topical topic.

Jimmy, we already have a few times, so surely that would be a redundant poll?

Leaving aside the issue that there's no confirmation that Fergie is interested in Baines at all, there is a point to this poll. How much we should expect to get for a player like Baines is a genuine debating point, so why not have a poll about it. My gripe is that the poll asks the wrong question. Asking people what's the minimum that they would accept encourages those responding to come up with overinflated valuations, especially if they don't want to see him sold. It would be more useful and informative to ask people how much they think Baines is actually worth in today's market.

My poll would be:

Who shouldn't have shaved their moustache off?

A: Peter Beagrie.
B: Derek Mountfield.
C: Ian Snodin.

How about polls on TW readers? Might give us an insight into the different perspectives? My first four:

How old are you?
Where are you from?
Are you are matchgoer?
Stuck in a lift with - Doddy or Marsh?

Sorry Matt,, I think you might have had too much sun,
The polls are a bit of fun
What comes from them we will never know
So just relax and give it a go
