Jon I don't think we'll be set up in a rigid formation with RM in charge, players will interchange and move all over the place, hopefully the defence and midfield will hold their positions for most of the game, but up front it will be about mobility and movement.

Jon #715 in his interview on the O/S Deulofeu states that he plays behind the striker or wide left. If Moses comes in it could also be an opportunity to push Mirallas up top - something a few on here have been calling for now he's had a season to size up the Premier League.

Of course Martinez will know of Moses from his Wigan days. Annoying when one considers he was also offered to Everton by Palace for the princely sum of £1m.

Hopefully this will finally see us playing a more attacking formation than 4-5-1 at home to the likes of Norwich.

What's the source for this? I would have thought that Deulofeu signing would have put an end to the Moses links as they play in similar positions and with similar skills.

I think Moses is a talented young player but i'd prefer to see either a playmaker in the Cazorla style (possibly Honda if thats still running) or a dynamic box to box midfielder to replace or compete with Gibson (who I rate), perhaps someone like Fer or Capoue. Still I won't be complaining if Victor comes on loan, presumably with an option to buy. One thing is certain, we're going to have a lot more pace to counter with than we did last season!

Saw a report from Italy saying we have outbid RS for Jorginho, a brazilian born u21 Italian player. Meant to be a very handy up and coming playmaker. Report says around €9m.

If true Sam, does that mean Baines has gone?

This would be phenomenal business if true - reuniting Moses with the man who got the best out of him and providing yet more pace and trickery to our attack.

Just thinking about our attacking options is getting me excited for the new season. I thought we were pretty dangerous already with Baines and Coleman bombing on and supporting Pienaar/Mirallas plus Felliani charging down the middle.

Now we get to mix in Moses and the next Barcelona starlet too to keep things fresh and add further pace/trickery...plus we've got a striker who might just be able to bang them in!
Just imagine if Jelavic could find his scoring touch again too.

The only slight niggle I suppose is that we might have to sacrifice Naismith a little more...

Very quick, Extremely athletic, he covered every inch of the pitch and combined well with Landon Donovan to score a real good goal.

Surely this fine player will not play in the Championship.

Moses on loan is to me decent business, the lad has pace and with a superior team around him I think he can flourish.

I would love to see Honda come in though, I don't know if there's any mileage in that one though.

As for Baines leaving, I would think that Fellaini is the more likely departure if we're bringing in MF players and Baines was recently quoted as saying that he cannot wait to work with Bob again whilst Fellaini has been conspicuous by his silence.....

Who's arsed if he plays in the same position as tha Barca lad, isn't that what we have all being moaning about on here for months, a squad of good players, not just a good first eleven.

I think exactly rhe same as you mate, RM said he wants competition in all areas and that is something we have sorely lacked.

We're now getting that competition and people still complain, plus there's still the matter that players like Naismith, Anichebe and Gueye must be under the microscope so if some of them get shipped out we'd be even lighter....

I think people are worrying about buying players in similar positions too much. We will probably see different formations with the centre backs keeping their positions throughout the game, with maybe the holding midfielder and the rest interchanging as the match goes on.

A bit fluidity to the midfield would be a good thing, especially as we do have some good ball-playing midfielders. This could help the likes of Barkley and may even help Osman get a bit more consistency in his game. I also can't see Pienaar being told to hug the left hand side for 90 minutes. We are too predictable there now.

The only change we ever really made was to switch the wingers 20 minutes into each half and bring Naismith on after 70 minutes, followed by Heitinga on 85 minutes (if we were winning) then Oviedo/Barkley/Anichebe on 92 minutes (when we needed a goal after conceding when Heitinga came on!).

The creative talent we have (especially if we get Moses) is probably the best since the days of Stuart, Amokachi, Ferguson, Limpar and Kanchelskis and our subs bench is going to be awesome. Bring on the first game!!

Personally I don't believe this... but if true, it would be an absolute fantastic move. To have wide options of Moses, Deulofeu, Pienaar and Mirallas would give us the kind of attacking options that we have not had in my lifetime.

I also don't see why we couldn't accommodate three of those four in one line up. I think this would allow Fellaini to drop back next to Gibson (presumably over Osman), and give us real options from the bench. Moses would obviously be a great long term prospect as well.

But, as I said before... I'm not confident in the validity of this story.

Moses would be a great signing, I was hoping we'd got him from Palace before Chelsea. I think they've held him back slightly only playing him out wide as a lot of his Palace goals came from direct runs through the middle. I think RM is after mobility upfront as Mirallas, the Barca lad and Moses can all cause havoc out wide and in the box.

If we do keep Felli then surely we have enough in the middle with him, Gibbo, Ossie, Pienaar and Barkley. If we got Honda then we're only holding Barkley back even further and we don't know how good he can be yet.

I'm struggling to understand how Victor Moses on loan with an agreed purchase option could be anything other than incredibly good business? Until I think it through and look at the recent transfer activity, which has been encouraging, but with Loan Fees adding up we have added four and now possibly five players for a cost likely to be £12m or so.

This may sound negative but that's it isn't it, without one or both of Fellaini and Baines leaving there is no money from the new Sky deal to fund anymore and nobody is investing. The £8m left over from the £20m Sky cash is desperately needed to fund running costs and the annual loss of £6m or so. This means that if Moses arrives, which does sound biblical doesn't it!! We will have done well to find the cash for five new players.

I can't get excited about any other transfers after these five if it in any way means Baines leaving. You can reasonably suggest that if Fellaini goes Martinez will get at least another £12m to spend and bloody Barclays the rest. I can see another two big-name arrivals in midfield to cover Felli's loss. But to then add the sale of Baines would be beyond crazy. If we stay as we are now, don't sell our best two players, AND have those five new lads, it starts to feel very, very, promising. But sadly I can't see it being like that.

There were reports that Milan had signed Jorginho at the end of May....but a deal never materialised.

So I guess he's still available.

If we lose Fellaini then I won't be too upset as he lost a lot of respect from me after his "performance" in the Wigan game and subsequent no show at Everton 2.

Guys, I'm sorry, but there is no way we've outbid Liverpool for Jorginho if reported fees are anywhere near accurate. We've probaly spent around 7.5-8mil so far this window, which will be our budget pretty much maxed out. Baines and Fellaini are both in Austria, so no fee has been agreed for them, and unless we've secret sold Heitinga and Naismith in the past few hours for above market value, we simply don't have the money. Moses has some potential...because of the Martinez connection, and because a loan with a buy clause makes sense. But I really cant believe we can afford this guy.

The issue with Oviedo, imo, is that he is too lightweight. Everytime I've watched him, he seems to struggle physically, and irrespective of the Europeanisation of the Premier League in recent seasons, physicality is still an important part of the English game, especially in defence. I do not believe he is ready yet, and could be a real weak link if asked to play at left back for any length of time. I hope I'm wrong though, and I do like his technical ability, which suggests he has the ball skills at least, to become a very good attacking left full/wing back.

I can't wait to see the new line up, and though some of these transfers are really decent, I am more looking forward to seeing how Coleman is going to do after a brilliant second half of the season last year. That is one guy that upped his game is and what we have been crying out for for ages. (Though I do rate Hibbo).

I like the look of Oviedo, me and my mate Ste have been waiting for him to get his chance for ages but at the end of the day Moyes simply never gave him a go, another one of his wonderful "I'll sign you but I won't play you" signings.

Not 100% sure on Moses but if its a loan then no harm done.

If he plays great we're happy, and if not he goes back to Chelsea and we haven't shelled out too much cash.

(Happily) Amazed that we've already signed 3 fowards in the first couple of weeks of the window.

Lack of options up front thankfully will now be a thing of the past. (First half of the 2011/12 season still gives me the shudders, nevermind 2005!)

I've always thought he could be used further forward where he'd be one of the few with the ability to link up with the Barca lad.

Well, Moses and Deulofeu are Martinez players, and they will flourish this season with our new style of play. Hopefully, the detractors will see that we are signing YOUNG ATTACKING players.

Hopefully the transfer activity of the last 5 days will shut the doom and gloom merchants up.

I do believe he'll stay at Bolton for at least the first half season. He really needs games after these 2 years out and for sure he'll get them there as 1st choice mid-fielder.

Plus, of course, Klinnsman' making it clear to anyone wanting in the USMNT that they have to be playing regularly for their club.

If we can get him it will be a good move. Deulofeu will be going back to Barcelona at the end of the season, assuming he doesn't get homesick and goes sooner. So if we have an option to buy Moses and he looks good this season then he's a ready made replacement.

It's players like these that could have turned all those draws last season into wins and put us into the Champions League. A bit of pace, skill and unpredictability to give us the edge in tight games.

Moses would be another magnificent capture. As it stands I doubt we have the funds to buy him, but a loan with an agreed future fee would be a smart way to get him in now, see if he works out, then pay for him next summer! I'm usually pretty sceptical about transfer rumours, but under Martinez I'm starting to let my imagination run wild!

Honda would be great, but I think he would only come in if Fellaini leaves. As well as a £6m+ fee he would demand big wages, the kind Felli is on.

A box to box midfielder would be a good addition (say Junior Malanda or Ibrahim if Fellaini stays or Capoue or Fer if he goes).

After seeing how Martinez operates in the transfer market I'm much less apprehensive about the Baines and Fellaini situations. Ideally I would like both to stay, but if one or both did leave I think Roberto would do good things with the money we get.

Sam, I wasn't aware our transfer budget was common knowledge, despite people moaning we have nothing(I suppose on the basis that RM hadn't signed anyone on his first day at the office).

I'd expect that we'd have quite a few million extra from the TV money. We've had about £8M knocked off the wage bill from the players and staff who departed, then there is the cash we were allegedly going to spend on Fer in January.

I suspect an £8M fee would clear us out, but I doubt anyone would need to leave to fund it. Like I say, I'd expect that if Baines was on his way, a replacement left back would've been a priority. We only have oviedo as cover and god knows how he'd perform.

BK, god bless him, has constantly stated that we don't need to sell to buy. I, for one, believe in our heavenly father and guiding light. If the supreme leader says we've money for Roberto to spend how dare any of us question his sacred word.

I am so excited by the movements we're making. I know we're not blasting away lots of cash on the likes of Cavani, but, as an optimist, I think we're going to smash it next season because we do things properly. And Bobby is doing that. We have a great squad at the moment and the additions properly add to it.

Robles looked decent enough to make Tim think again... Defensively I think we're good. And I reckon we keep Heitinga. He had a shit season last year but he's a ball-playing centre-back, which is right up Robbie's strasse.

Keep or replace Fellaini – I don't mind. But Moses or Sinclair from Man City on loan would be ace.

Up front... I'm all for giving Jelavic another go... knowing that Kone is right there.

All-in-all, I'm happy.

But I'm an optimist.

With Moses on board we will have enough firepower to blast to pieces any opponent both home and away.

The ex-Wigan lad is a centre half but he also plays left back. I know we've got Oviedo, who I rate, but I feel Martinez would go with Alcaraz.. Mainly because he is bigger and stronger.

Of course, I could be completely wrong, and let's hope I am. Baines is my favourite blue and I'm praying he'll stay. Sadly, I think the chances are slim. Everton are a great club but when one of the biggest, richest clubs in the world ask you to join them, it's hard to say no.

Brin Williams, you have a somewhat caricatured view of reality. You can determine the true age of a person with great east; the method is called MRI. Do you really think Chelsea would play £10m for a player without ascertaining age?

Al - I've read that "MRI is considered to be 99% accurate until the age of 17, after which it becomes harder for medical professionals to calculate a person's age" so it's not as easy as you suggest. I guess the fact that Moses is Nigerian (like Yakubu) led Brin to wonder aloud whether his age is correct. Nothing wrong with that. Lay off him.

Kev Johnson, the Wikipedia article you are quoting from is no papal bull. These tests typically have an margin of error of +/- 1 year and not a decade. We live in the year 2013 and science has come a long way since man invented the wheel.
