Looks like the deal for Moses is off. A MF player is now the priority for Martinez according to the Echo.

Wise move. Loan move would have been fine and good for both him and us but to spend 8m on a player with that kind of goal return, which is worst than Vic's I might add, would be madness.

If Baines and Felli both go, Martinez would have the cash ( and he's wily enough ) to buy good ( better??? ) replacements. I still would prefer Baines to stay, but am prepared for him leaving and I trust Martinez to find decent replacements if he had the money.

Spurs have transfer-listed Clint Dempsey, and Martinez has been an outspoken admirer of his during his broadcast stints on USA World Cup qualifiers.

If we do offload somebody and free up some cash, I wouldn't be surprised to see Roberto go for him. Six or seven million on Dempsey would be a good investment.

Yahoo Sports is speculating that we'd be among Dempsey's most likely destinations.

I'd have Dempsey in an instant - should have come to us ages ago. Needs first team football to be guaranteed World Cup place with USA, according to JK, though they'd be fucked without him. Can't imagine the Tim H and Landon connection would do much to dissuade him.

If by some some miracle we could keep our team as it is right now with our new squad members this week, I feel we could really set the premier alight and go for it. Of course we still have a small squad but if Martinez coaches and encourages some of our young lads to really feel part of a winning team,we can get Goodison rockin' at long last! I saw an article on Newsnow saying our old oak Bilyaletdinov hasn't been an outright success on his return to Russia and would be willing to come back and give it another go with us. I think that move would get universal approval.

I'd rather have the younger Sigurdsson than Dempsey...might be available for loan too, given that Spurs keep bizzarely buying central midfield player (Holtby, Sig, Dempsey, Sandro, Parker, Huddlestone, Paulinho and Livermore...but only two top wide mids)

Personally, I think a Moses loan might happen later in the window, if Chelski don't get a buyer. I believe attempts to compare Moses, who is best out wide, with Anichebe, who is a central striker, are wide of the mark. In the first 11 of a top 10 side, I expect Moses would get 7-10 goals, and a fair few assists for years to come. Talking of Chelski loans, shame Romeu has gone to Valencia. He could have been the tacking central mid some have suggested we need.

Everyone is saying we don't need any more wingers; it's not the main priority but we still can't say no to a new player – we need depth. I would prefer a creative midfielder but Moses is a brilliant player and he can hit them.

Not sure why everyone is so keen on getting Macmanaman in. He's had half a good season, I remember even a certain Thomas Graveson being able to do that! and for the mooted ~8m, stupid money for a club like us to be spending.

I'm happy with our wingers, esp because we have the option to play 5-3-2 with baines and coleman as wing backs. A CM should be the priority, we need one even if Fella stays, which I doubt he will. If Honda is doable at ~5m I'd be happy, not sure what his wage demands would be though, I'm assuming fairly high. I'd still like us to do for Fer again, but then that was Moyes' target and I wouldn't blame RM for having different opinions about how to spend his kitty.
