The Belgian lad from Ajax, Alderweireld, would be an excellent addition in the long run. Age is on his side. Tidy footballer too. Unfortunately, he seems to be off to The Shite. Seems a real shortage of suitors for Heits. No surprise if they watched a few tapes from last season.

At this point 2-3m for him would be reasonable but have a feeling he may wind down his contract, collect his vast wages and leave for nothing next summer.

Heits has gone back in to his shell. It looked like 2 years ago he was getting suited to EPl, which is a really fast -- often long ball - league, which doesn't suit his skill sets - older now, not so quick on the turn, occasionally slow to think. Still has some class and would fit in well with some of the other European leagues.

I find the talk about Alderweireld, as a possible replacement for Bainesee, a little disturbing. Could be there's more to MU interest than is being shown on the surface?????

Bob (475), Alderweireld is primarily a centre back who can also play right back. If we were to sign him, it wouldn't be to replace Baines.

Wouldn't be sorry to see him go whatever the fee! As far as I know he is one of the high wage 'earners' and the sooner we get shut the better!

Brian - 464. You are living in dream world if you think we'll get anywhere near 4 mil for Heitinga. He's 29, in the last year of his contract and barely played last season (plus he got poor reviews when he did). I think he's been dropped from the Holland squad too.

We'll be very lucky to get 2 mil, and we should keep our fingers crossed for thst cos he's one of our top earners and we need him off the books.

Given the 18% higher rate of Tax I cannot understand why Heitinga would want to leave Everton to go to Turkey, despite openly welcoming a move to Barcelona, where the Catalunya higher rate of Tax is 56%.....

Thomas #521, until this year footballers in Spain were paying the Entertainers Tax Rate of 10%, introduced so the likes of buskers could make a living. With Spain suffering a bit in the downturn, the government decided to remove that little loophole, which is why the likes of Ronaldo has been a bit down recently. Until his new contract is sorted!

Heits.is a strong player but has gone backwards as he has aged.
I always thought he was a better holding midfielder than a Centre back but with both Gibson and also Fella doing that role his opportunities were few.
Let's cash him in along with Anichebe,Osman and Naismith in exchange for a new team bus.

I think it would be wise to sell now for three reasons 1) His contract is running out and it would be better to get a fee now than let him leave for nothing next year. 2) He is on about £50k a week and that would be invested in two decent players on £25k p/w. 3) He looked too slow last season, both in terms of pace and decision making.

I like the guy, and he was class the season before last, but he needs to have a run in the team to get sharp, and I can't see him getting that with the other centre-backs we have at the club. The big problem we will have selling him is the large wages he is on. If he is happy to sit on the bench rather than take a pay cut I can see him hanging around for another year!

The guy is on a reported 60k a week - we shouldn't piss about with the transfer value, just get rid of him. He costs us 250k a month!

if anyone offered 1-2m, we should accept it and move on.
